Gogli Complex

An animal cell contains several types of organs, called organelles.  The nucleus directs the activity of the cell. The mitochondria generates energy for the cell. Proteins are manufactured by the ribosomes, which are bound to the rough endoplasmic reticulum or float in the cytoplasm.  The Golgi apparatus manipulates proteins and lysosomes store enzymes for digesting food. The entire cell is wrapped in the lipid membrane that selectively permits materials to pass in and out of the cytoplasm.
