| Max. Torque | No clue |
| 0-60mph Time | No idea |
| 1/4 mile Time | Ditto |
| Engine Mileage | Depends on how you look at it. Case has close to 100k miles on it without being touched, have only replaced bearings once (at about 40k miles because cam went flat), heads have been freshened up twice, but other than that have the same number of miles as the case. |
| Cost To Build | Talking engine only here now: According to prices in '89, about $2500. At today's prices it would be about a grand more than that. |
| Purpose | To-and-from-work ride |
| Comments | My goal from the get-go was to build the most reliable high performance 1776 with stock valves (had to have heat and that meant stock heater boxes) that money could buy. I accomplished this. After 13 years and almost 100k miles, this engine has been an absolute joy to drive and maintain. As a daily driver, I couldn't be happier. It makes horsepower from idle all the way to 6000 rpm. Since I added the 1 5/8" exhaust I picked up a couple more ponies up high, and I can really feel the cam "come on" at about 4000 rpm. As a low maintenance, high performance daily driver, I'd recommend this combo to anyone! |
