Blue Man Group
By Josh Iverson
This show is made for anyone and everyone, whether you frequently go to shows of any kind or have never been in an auditorium. It is by far not your typical performance, from beginning to end they keep the surprises coming. From the minute you take your seat you know you're in for a wild ride especially if you have seats in the front rows. You are supplied with a smock for any paint or other flying objects that may head your way. Someone from the crew of the group is already down near the seats to help you find your seat, hand out tissue paper for your creative enjoyment, as well as teach you the "blue man cheer" to get you in the spirit of the show. When the lights go out you would think the show would begin but you are given a funny precursor to the main attraction. At both ends of the stage are electronic message boards which introduce certain members of the audience as obscure people as well as provide a little stand-up comedy. After this the three performers take the stage and begin the show, in a way that could be expected of no one, besides the Blue Man Group. Throughout the show you are captivated by an array of both musical as well as comical performances. They come out into the audience several times for a little crowd participation which, I wasn't lucky enough to be a part of however, must be a once in a lifetime experience. Just when you think the show cannot get any better, they conclude the show with a shower of toilet paper over the audience. By now every member of the audience is on their feet screaming at the top of their lungs with excitement. Once you get out of the sea of toilet paper and get your smock off you can make your way to the exit where you are greeted by the band members as well as the blue men themselves. You can speak to the band members, however the blue men do not put down their act of silence. If you want an autograph by anyone of the blue men you will not get the customary name on your ticket, but the imprint of blue lips for you to take home as an authentic souvenir. Once again I highly recommend seeing this show, it is a performance you will never forget and almost definitely be back for more.
