Every family has a secret...
This one has two...
For twenty years, I have harbored a secret. People talk about my sons,
and the evil things they did, yet still I remain strangely mute.
I do not discuss my own actions that day - or the rage I felt when
I burned the two linking books that had snared them.
Some people believe my sons died in those fires. But the truth is,
they did not.
You are the only one I can confide in, my friend, so I am asking you
to come to Tomahna. There are things I must tell you about my sons.
Myst IV: Revelation returns to the series' roots, with a pre-rendered
360° free-look engine. However, in what promises to be one of the most
incredible games ever made, the images are no longer static, with moving
water and a few animations in the background, as you would expect from
Myst, Riven and Exile. Instead, the developers are
calling this game "Myst comes to life!", with every single
location teeming with fully dynamic animation - in the sky, the trees,
the water, the creatures - everything comes to life. But the beauty of
it is, due to it all being prerendered, the graphics are beyond what any
other game can offer.
Revelation is by far the largest game ever built. Due to the tremendous
volume of scenes and animation, the entire game, finished and compressed,
comes it at over 8 Gigabytes! (Thats over twelve CD's worth of data!)
This is the reason why it is being released on DVD only (it comes on 2
DVDs, with a third "bonus" DVD if you buy the collectors edition).
In Myst, players exposed Atrus' greedy sons, Sirrus and Achenar,
who plundered from and murdered the inhabitants of his many Ages. In Exile,
we saw the consequences of their actions, and how they affected other
peoples' lives. Now, ten years since Exile and twenty years since
Myst, the epic story of the brothers returns as they escape from
their linking books and return to kidnap Atrus and Catherine's new daughter,
Yeesha.
Revelation takes us back to those infamous red and blue books,
where the brothers were trapped in the first game. This time, we get to
journey to the two ages: Spire and Haven, respectively, to learn about
the hardships the brothers experienced during their twenty-year stay in
the prison ages. But as you explore, you will discover a darker purpose
that the brothers have. Search for Yeesha across four beautiful ages,
and reveal the truth behind Sirrus and Achenar's mysterious past!
