had 3 days off this week. 2 of those days i was so sick with the flu. was terror. to celebrate my wellness i went to roppongi with grant and jason. it can be such a bad bad place, but we took some good video.
birthday party last night for adam, shinobu and martin in shibuya. every body was suitably doused in beer.
went to the magic rock out festival last night in chiba. iggy and the stooges were awesome. indoor event started at 6pm and went through till 6am. spoke to the guys from the band south for a while. primal scream were cool - they did a dj set at the end of the night also- was ok but i couldn't help but think they were taking the piss. it wouldn't matter what they did, the audience would have loved it just as much as they did. iggy was incredible. he has like negative body fat, he must be nearly 60, but he was grinding away and getting up on the speaker stacks. there's something wrong with his hip and he's kind of limping - i was imaging he would come on stage in a wheelchair or something. i didnt get any photos.
i erased my halfbakery account yesterday. i kind of regret it, but the site was starting to cut me up. so many lame people - but then again so many cool people too.
saw the video last night of the abikyokan performance. it was cooler than i expected. sounded good in most parts and we looked like some insane bunch of undertakers at the pub.
considering applying for the design festa gig in may - it will cost around 60,000 to get it all set up, not to mention the cost of materials. do today what you might not do tomorrow. . festa i went to last year was huge. was so cool. thousands and thousands of people go to it. all a bit low brow but lots of awesome stuff there.
teaching is so lame. im looking forward to a new change. mid may it looks like unless something else crops up. hmm - to be on schedule i need to put my notice in at the end of this month.
i can't be bothered putting pictures up tonight. blah. i wonder what people in england are doing right now.
abikyokan played its first gig last night in kinschicho. was crazy. there were about 50 - 60 people i guess crammed into the little space. i played some tunes from about 6 - 7pm. - An Albatross, Dabrye, Xiu Xiu, T. Rauschmier, Scissor Sisters, Lightning Bolt, the Locust, Black Dice, Metal Urbain, Romanowski, Skyhooks, Electric Six and Budgie. i was going for a kind of death metal disco feel.
the set the band played went ok, we couldn't hear ourselves properly so a lot of the effects were just going out blind. we had been rehearsing for quite a few weeks prior, but our first proper run through went for about 30 minutes the night before, so it was all a bit of an adventure when we did it live. it was noisy and we looked good. i think this is what bands do. The song jake sang on was the best. we were pretty good for a first effortt - i think we need some more practice and to try out another venue. moderate is cool though
a strange chicken man was present after the set. it all finished just after 10 and we ventured forth to karaoke where the real fighting began..

went into ebisu and shinjuku today. got some books took some photos. saw movie the passion of christ today -mel gibson directed. my god it was so full on. the last time i winced like this was maybe in requiem for a dream. jesus gets the jesus whipped out of him. i don't know what it's all about but theres this scene at the end where they put him on this cross - and get this they nail him to it!
theres this bit in the middle that goes for about 15 minutes where they chain him to this rock in the roman encampment, and they whip the fuck out of him with these cat of nine tails things that tears the flesh out of him. hardcore. the whole film is in aramaic with subtitles.
