1999 EMOO Press Releases
6/9/99 Hunchback press release from the desk of the Hunchbacks owner
I have hired Fox Mulder, Dana Scully and Art Bell to try to uncover what I
believe to be a conspiracy involving Jetson players. It seems Jetson players
are targeted by the evil Bud Selig who seems to enjoy meteing out suspensions as though he
were giving away free candy. A pox on you evil Selig!
Is it possible that Bud Selig is from a parallel universe and that for some mysterious
reason he dislikes the Jetson logo ? Clearly, Shawon Dunston
and Chan Ho Park were not the instigators of bench clearing brawls. I think it was the
alien shapeshifters from the X-files who took their places on those given days...ordered
by the evil Selig ! Bible faring pacifists like Dunston & Park would never sink to
such a level. This whole thing reeks of conspiracy !

Kingston (AP)-The Smart Alecs traded P Shawn Estes today to the Wayfarin' Strangers for 1B
Derreck Lee in an even up traded for like-salaried players. Estes, 7-12 with a 5.06 ERA in
25 starts last season, is coming off a disappointing and injury filled year after a
stellar 1997 performance. Last winter, the Alecs signed him to a long term contract
through 2000 for 15 cents. Lee returns to the team that signed him to his original EMOO
contract. Alecs' GM Alex Wassem said, "We hated to see Derreck go in the first place.
When the opportunity came to re-acquire him, we jumped at the chance. We envision him
elevating his performance slowly but surely over the next two seasons and easing the loss
of Jeff Bagwell." Lee batted .233-17-74-5 in 1998. After the all star break, he
batted.260-9-39-4. Like Estes, the 23 year old Lee is locked up contractually through 2000
at 15 cents.
