D12 consists of 6 members: Swift, Eminem, Bizzare, Kuniva, Kon Artis and Proof. The group all met in the early ninties at 'The Hip Hop Shop' a local hang out, situated in Detroit, for wannabe rappers. Here they held rap battles from 5-7pm on a saturday. This gave each one of them the opportunity to prove themselves, and gain respect whilst creating a buzz in the underground world of rap.
D12 are managed by Mark ''Dough Boy'' Hicks and Rick Shelton, after Eminerm hit the big time and came back to get his crew. This was due to a pact made before any of them got a deal, and they agreed that whoever got signed, had to come back for the rest. D12 have always shared the same tight knit group of friends, as they now say you cant trust anyone becuase you dont know if they want you for you or for your fame. Eminem started his own label, 'Shady Records' and D12 were the first group to be signed. The likes of Obie Trice and 50 Cent have followed. |
