| I grew up in Lewisburg, WV in the heart of the Greenbrier Valley. Lewisburg is a small town that has a rich history. It was an early frontier settlement; in fact, two of Lewisburg's churches were among the first west of the Alleghany Mountains. A Civil War battle was even fought there. Despite Lewisburg's relatively small size and population, there is actually quite a lot to do. Carnegie Hall offers concerts and educational programs, while the Greenbrier Valley Theater puts on live performances throughout the year, showcasing both professional and community actors. The downtown area is also a great place to eat and shop -- from antique stores to bookstores, fine dining to snacks and coffee -- Lewisburg has it all! In addition to the downtown area attractions, there is much to see and experience in the great outdoors. The Greenbrier River -- one of America's cleanest rivers -- is a great place to go swimming, fishing, canoeing, or innertubing. Not only that, but there is a river trail for biking, walking, and horseback riding that runs for close to 80 miles. West Virginia certainly has a lot to offer!
