| /start with Mammoth Springs, SD Badlands wall drug corn palace |

| Our next site seeing event was Mammoth site at Hot Springs, SD. Quite a few years ago these large, earth shaking animals stopped by this spring and when they got stuck in the mud and could not get out.....uh, ohhh. It must have happened a lot by number of fossils they are finding. The "dig" was found in 1974 and is privately owned and has been enclosed and climate controlled to preserve the ancient bones. |

| Uncovering the fossils is slow painstaking work done by volunteer interns and studied by scientists from around the world. To date there have been 52 mammoths unearthed at this site as well as many other species. Frequent guided tours are held throughout the day. . Another very interesting little trip. |
