.Jan 2: Johanne and I went over to Aunt Peggy's and helped her and Arnie cover the orange trees to protect from frost that was predicted overnight. They survived fine. The oranges and grapefruit in Aunt Peggy's yard are about the best we have ever had.
.Jan - Feb: Being settled in and stationary for more than four months things are pretty much routine. We would do our shopping at Walmart, Publix and Albertsons. Visits to the doctor and dentist. Playing cards at Aunt Peggy's Going to the movies or shows. Most notably, our trip to Albuquerque for daughter Lyn's birthday and to meet our new grandson Kasen. We spent a week there and was reminded what winter is like.....COLD! We did have one nice warm day and we all went for a bike ride, even Kasen in a pull behind carrier. The plane ride was cramped but otherwise uneventful.
.Jan 9: This day we were introduced to the game of "Corn Toss". This is a new game to us, but apparently popular with the snow bird set My first tournament, my partner and I made it to the semi- finals. A feat I have not been able to match since.

.Feb 06 - 12: Kasen with Grandpa Ed in Albuquerque, NM
.Jan 17: We met up with the Clines, Bob and Lydia. Folks we had met at the Care Center last year. They were staying at Griffin State Park Campground near our location. We went out to a Bob Evans Restaurant for a nice dinner and chat. Bob's treat. Bob and Lydia looked good. It was nice to see them.
.Jan 18: Johanne and I went with Aunt Peggy, Arnie, Jeanette and Fred on a Casino Cruise out of Port Canaveral. It was a most unpleasant time, smoky, noisy, rocking seas and not one comfortable seat on the boat. The food was mediocre. And, it was too cold to stand out on the deck.
We had such a good time with Kasen and his family. He is such a happy baby and so playfull. We will be anxious to return to Albuquerque to see him again. (probably be there in May ) |
