.Mar 10: Our friends Bob & Linda that have been working at Disney and staying at an RV park not far from Orlando, have moved up to 'our' park for a few days until we both head to Perry Georgia for the Good Sam Rally.
We went on a tour of "The Villages" with them, then took them to the Sumter Landing and the music on the town square where we listened to some good music for a while and then a we went to Giovanni's Ristorante and had a pizza dinner.

Meanwhile we would get together with Bob & Linda each day and go site seeing. One day we went through the countryside where we saw fields of pecan trees, bare at this time of year, but then we also saw fields of these beautiful cherry blossoms.

.Mar 12: We finally left Florida and headed for the RV Rally at the fairgrounds in Perry, GA. Bob & Linda followed us, but were assigned to a different parking area. After settling in we got together and went out to eat.
Over the next few days we did a lot of walking. Looked at a lot of RV's and RV suppliers and vendors. We tried going to some seminars but found them boring and uninformative. Bob & Linda did go to a few seminars about Alaska as they will be heading there this summer.

.Mar 18: Uh Ohhhhhhhh
At the end of the Rally, we planned to move to a nearby campground along with Bob & Linda. From there we would tour the area, BUT, when leaving the fairgrounds we went to the nearby gas station and filled up and proceeded to rip the rear end of the RV on the concrete stanchion at the end of the gas pump.

Mar 27: We had said our goodbyes to Bob & Linda and started our journey towards Texas.and our term volunteering at the Escapee's Care Center.
      Our first stop was in a rather poor RV park near Montgomery, AL
Mar 28: Next stop was at Roosevelt State Park in Mississippi. Nice park, on a lake about 30 miles east of Jackson, MS.
Mar 29: Continuing westward, we planned a night at Paragon Casino in Louisiana. My damn Microsoft Streets and Trips computer program had the casino located some 30 miles from it's actual location and it cost us 50 miles by the time I got a course correction. But, we made it. The RV park at the casino was pretty nice and well filled up. We ate at the casino and Johanne got to play for awhile.
Mar 30: Home again. We traveled the last leg and arrived at our home park in Livingston, TX
     We remained there until the 16th of May. We really enjoyed our time with other volunteers and, of course, our old and new friends....residents and staff. This year I got involved with driving the Care residents to their doctors appointments, trip to the post office and Walmarts. It was enjoyable, just as working in the kitchen. But, the three trips into Houston I could have done wihtout.

. After gathering our wits we continued to the RV park about 20 miles south on I-75 and settled in next to Bob and Linda.
Later I found that the rear lights were not working.

Mar 18 - 26th:.     We made arrangements to have the damage checked out at Mid State RV Center in Byron, GA. I patched up the lights and went the 40 some miles to the shop.
      We were treated very well. They even had the Progressive Insurance adjuster look at our damage.
      We had to take temporary residence in a motel. I have a discount card from Choice Hotels so we chose one of their locations nearby. After one night we decided that we did not deserve the dump we were in, especially since the insurance was footing the bill. So we moved to La Quinta down the road. Much nicer!

Georgia Music Hall of Fame. Otis Redding was the featured artist amongst the many others that hail from Georgia.
Another day we toured Robbins Air Force Base Museum. I was assigned to this base back in 1961-62 but had never been there as I was actually (TDY) at Dobbins AFB in Marietta, GA.
But, the day we went to Juliette, Ga was the highlite. This is the location of the Whistle Stop Cafe, famous from novel by Fannie Flagg, Fried Green Tomatos and the resulting movie that starred Kathy Bates, Jessica Tandy and others.

. By the end of the week we checked out of the motel and went to Mid State RV and picked up the repaired RV. All but the left rear cargo door was repaired. The door was a special order item and we agreed to return in the fall (on our way to Florida) to have it installed.
