Philosophy

The goal of Ella's Second Home daycare begins with the desire to provide a safe as well as educationally and socially enriching environment in which children can learn to be self-confident away from home. We seek to encourage well-rounded growth for all children based on their individual level of development.

We believe that children learn best when positive relationships are established between the child, the child's family and the community. In our program we work closely with parents and provide the materials, opportunities, and trained personnel to facilitate and nurture a positive relationship and interactions between our family and community members. We strive to service a culturally and economically diverse population by establishing a trusting and respectful environment.

We believe children learn best through play. It is through play and developmentally appropriate practices that we help children to develop physical strength; coordination and motors skills; as well as cognitive skills to allow children to expand their imaginations and express ideas and feelings creatively. Additionally we strive to help children develop an intellectual curiosity and understanding of and appreciation for diverse environments.

At Ella's Second Home, the staff communicates with the children and each other in English, Russian and Ukrainian. If you share a linguistic heritage with us and would like to pass this on to your child, we are pleased to emphasize the Russian and/or Ukrainian language with your child. At circle time, we often learn Russian nursery rhymes and songs.
