"Fixing your computer problems fast... the first time."

Frequently Asked Questions

  • How much does a service call cost?
Detailed information can be seen under the prices section.

  • When can I schedule a servical call?
We are open from 5:30 PM to 11:00 PM, 7 days a week -- including holidays, except Christmas. Availability through all holidays is not guaranteed.

  • What guarantees can WCC make?
We guarantee our work for 5 days, starting from the date the service call is completed. If there's a problem, just give us a call and we'll be happy to come back out to recorrect the problem (see terms and conditions for more info). After that, please refer to the manufacturer's warranty.

If a service tech cannot successfully complete a service call, only a $20 trip charge will be assessed.

  • My computer's running slow. What's causing this?

    1. Too Many Installed Programs
If you haven't used a program in 3-6 months, get rid of it... it's just taking up useful and sometimes scarce hard drive space. Find a list of programs under Start --> Control Panel --> Add/Remove Programs. Ask a tech before uninstalling anything you don't recognize.

    2. Spyware
You get this everytime you install something new from a website (with or without your knowledge) and it takes of valuable system resources. Download Ad-Aware SE Personal or Spybot - Search & Destroy and scan your computer. If you can afford it, buy Webroot Spysweeper.

    3. Anti-Virus programs
These run in the background everytime you start up your computer. The two best known culprits are McAfee AntiVirus and Symantec Norton AntiVirus. I recommend McAfee because it uses the least system resources and runs a full scan only once a week on Friday at 10:00PM (this can be customized).

    4. Temp Files
After opening e-mail attachments, installing programs, and viewing web pages, your temporary folder and temporary internet files can become cluttered with lots of stuff that's just sitting there.

Clear it out by going to:
My Computer --> right-click on Local Disk (usally C:) --> click on Properites --> click on Disk Cleanup --> CHECK ONLY Temporary Internet Files, Offline Webpages, Temporary Files, and Setup Log Files (some of them may not be listed) --> Click on OK

    5. Defragmentation
After a while, downloading music, creating documents, installing/uninstalling programs, and more can cause your hard drive to work harder to find where everything is stored. This causes "fragmentation" of the hard drive and can really slow you down if not done regularly.

      Defragment by going to:
Start --> Run --> and TYPE dfrg.msc --> click on Analyze.

If you see a lot of red sections (more than the picture below):

Then, click on Defrag. Depending on how much fragmentation there is, it can take up to an hour or more, so close out as many applications as you can BEFORE you run Disk Defragmenter.
