In addition to the listed instructional topics, we also make ourselves available for outings, public services as well as demonstrations and assistance to our community whenever called. We may provide communications for a bike race or assist our fire department with equipment, manpower or rehabilitation. We strive to be an indispensible tool for our communities.
We desire to hold annual drills and combined training with other explorer posts that may be in the area. We always encourage inter-post training, as it may help everyone in the long run! Please post your link or e-mail it to us to be posted!!!
Being Prepared and Trained for disaster is what makes you strong. This is what leads the weak. Without firefighters and EMT's, the world would be a very unsafe place. The Elkhorn Area Fire Department and the Elkhorn Area Ambulance Service is a progressive fire department/rescue service located in the county seat of Walworth County, Wisconsin. Between the two, we respond to over 1,000 calls for service a year. Our fire chief community has approved the formation of our post to teach the youth of our community what it takes to be a firefighter. We have recieved overwhelming support! We have highly trained and skilled advisors with many years of experience in the services, so our Explorers will be trained by nothing less than the best.
                  History
Our Explorers will be trained with the IFSTA Firefighter II training curriculum, as well as the National Registry EMT-B. Our Explorers, once trained, will be able to participate in fire department functions on scenes in a "ride-a-long" program. Explorers will never enter confined spaces or structural fires, rather they will help with the equipment, filling empty airpacks, communications, rehabilitation of firefighters, as well as some other operations as the advisors see fit. Explorers will never replace firefighters, rather enhance them and the department. It is for training and assistance purposes only.
