Isaiah, Chapter 24:
Modern Disasters
(This chapter predicts various kinds of natural disasters: earthquakes, freak weather and resulting bad harvests as a punishment for the wickedness of humanity and a way for God to impose radical change. The extent to which these things happen today is unique in human history, another hint to determine the time predictions apply to.)
Look the LORD destroys and devastates the earth; he ruins its face
(through hurricanes, flooding, drought, wildfires and other forest destruction)
and scatters its inhabitants. (Throughout the world, the number of refugees through wars and poverty is increasing like never before.)
(2) It will be the same for priests as for people, for ruler as for servant, for lady as for maid, for seller as for buyer, for banker as for lender, for debtor as for creditor. (When disasters get worse, social structures are broken up and class differences don't matter any more.)
(3) The earth will be destroyed and totally ruined. (Through the shortsighted and careless greed by the leaders of our time.)
The LORD has spoken this word. (4) The land and the whole world dry up and weaken, the leaders fail. (Politicians and business leaders have no effective plans to secure a future. There is an international conference every couple of weeks about poverty, disarmament or environment destruction: all words and no action.)
(5) The earth is polluted by its people; they have ignored the laws, failed their duty and broken the everlasting covenant. (The majority of humanity claim to be Jews, Christians or Muslims. Yet they worship money and disregard the teachings of their prophets about the purpose of life and the lessons from history.)
(6) This is why a curse destroys the earth: its inhabitants are punished. 
(Food production will decrease dramatically because of climate change, freak weather disasters and erosion of fertile soil.)
(8) Happy singing and joyful music has stopped, harps and drums are silent. (9) No more happy singing over a glass of wine, it tastes bitter to its drinkers. (Disasters, social decline and economic crisis also affect the people's mood leading to gloom and depression.)
(10) The arrogant civilization is ruined; the entrance to every house is locked. (Selfishness as the ruling principle of "Western" culture leads to its self-destruction and fear of crime.)
(11) In the streets they cry out for wine; no more happiness, all cheerfulness is gone from the earth. (Alcoholism and other drug problems are getting worse further deteriorating the general mood.)
(12) The city is left and ruined, its gate is smashed to pieces. (13) This will happen everywhere on earth, every nation will be affected, like at the end of the harvest, when all the olives and all the grapes have been collected. (Famines will also affect those industrialized nations enjoying a high standard of living today.)
(14) The survivors will sing for joy and celebrate the LORD'S majesty across the sea. (Eventually the old way of life and thinking will end, a new and better world will come out of these disasters, and the survivors will be glad it happened that way.)
(15) Therefore give glory to the LORD every day; praise the name of the LORD, the God of Israel, in the Islands of the sea.

(16) From the ends of the earth we hear singing, "Glory to the Honest One." But I said, "I am on my own, I cannot get my message across! It is terrible for me!

Deceivers mislead the people with their lies!" 
(Throughout the world the media are being misused to manipulate people and make them vote for ruthless liars and corrupt deceivers such as Blair, Clinton, Bush and Germany's Schröder, see Revelation 16:13, 19:20.)
(17) Listen, inhabitants of the earth, terrors and pits are waiting for you. (18) Whoever tries to escape at the sound of terror will fall into a pit,

(19) The earth is broken up, split apart and thoroughly shaken. 
(This could predict a shift in the axis of the earth causing enormous disasters.)
so heavy is the guilt of its sins that it falls apart - never to rise again. (We are reaching a point where there is very little left to lose. Therefore we might as well try and enforce the teachings of Jesus and other prophets in politics for a change. Things cannot get much worse anyway.)
(21) In that day the LORD will punish the heavenly powers above (The destructive aspects of the element of air: evil spirits nowadays necessary to promote change, which have only a limited time in history and are going to be discarded, see Revelation 20.)
and the kings of the earth below. (For causing destruction through their greed.)
(22) They will be rounded up like prisoners in a dungeon, locked up in prison and punished after many days. (23) The moon will be ashamed, (The Moon is a symbol for the element of water meaning emotions. Their destructive aspects will also be affected.)
the sun disturbed; (The sun is a symbol for the element of fire.)
for the LORD Almighty will reign on Mount Zion, and in Jerusalem, (Mount Zion and Jerusalem originally symbolize Jewish culture, which nowadays includes Christians and Muslims: the whole Western civilization.)
and the leaders of the people will see his glory.
