Awards & Conventions Attended: 

Attended The IBF Convention in Miami, Florida U.S.A. May 1988 (received a recognition award)  

Received an award in the State of Minnesota in the U.S.A. “in recognition of a woman’s dedication to the improvement of Boxing World Wide.” (June 1988) 

Attended the WBC Convention in Cancun, Mexico November 1992 (the boycott by the WBC against professional boxing in South Africa was lifted) 

Appointed Boxing Lady of the Year (1992) by the WORLD BOXING COUNCIL.  This is the first time in the 30-year history of the WBC that they have honoured a woman in boxing.  (1st April 1993 at the United Nations in New York) 

Attended the Zimbabwe Institute of Sports Coaches and Administrators Conference (ZISCA) October 1993 

Attended the WBC Convention in Las Vagas, Nevada, U.S.A. December 1993  

Attended the WBC Convention in Seville, Spain (30th October -5th November 1994) 

Attended the WBC Convention in Chiang Mai, Thailand (6th November - 12th November 1995) The African Delegates to this Convention resolved to form an association of Professional Boxing Countries to be called The African Boxing Council.  This proposal would be presented to African Delegations at a meeting to be called by the President of the Professional African Boxing Commission sometime before 1st April 1996. 

Attended the African Boxing Confederation Special Meeting held in Tunis 11th -15th March.  The standing Professional boxing Executive was dismissed while an interim Executive was put in place until the ABC congress is to be held in December 1996.  I have been appointed Public Relations Officer to assist this interim Executive. 

Attended the WBC Convention in Buenos Aires, Argentina from 20th -26th October 1996.  The African delegates were urged by the WBC to return to the African Boxing Union (ABU) structure which was the sanctioning body for Professional Boxing In Africa.

The situation as it stands now is that Professional Boxing in Africa is housed under the Amateur Body, Africa Boxing Confederation (ABC) 

Attended the WBC Convention in Malaga, Spain from 10th -16th November 1997.  The WBC sponsored a congress for the African Federation in order that they discuss the organization of professional boxing as it exists under the umbrella of the African Boxing Confederation essentially an amateur boxing authority.  The African delegates in attendance elected to establish a separate authority independent of the ABC to govern professional boxing as was the case when professional boxing was governed by their own authority the then African Boxing Union, (ABU) a totally professional authority.   

Efforts To Improve The Standard Of Boxing In Zimbabwe: 

1.      MAMBY AMATEUR BOXING CLUB, (established 1987)

2.      Organised Zimbabwe’s First Boxing Clinic (January 1988)

3.      Established The First Boxer Of The Year Award Night Dinner 1991, to be an annual event to honour the best:  Boxer of the Year Award, Sports Writer of the Year Award and A Donor of the Year

4.      MAMBY AMATREUR BOXING CLUB, CHINHOYI BRANCH (established 1993)

5.      Established the Miss Ring Girl Contest (1994)

6.      Established Referee and Judges Workshops for professional Ring Officials (1995)

7.      The Hon, Minister C. Msipa accepts to be The Patron of Ring Promotions (1995)

8.      Published a Boxing Manual to educate the boxer and the ring officials on procedures recognized Internationally to date in boxing (1997)

9.      Sent Mr. Wonder Jongwe (Ring Doctor) to attend the WBC’s First Medical Boxing Congress, to get information to update our boxing fraternity on the latest developments in Boxing Medicine and Safety.  This Congress was held in Aruba April 30th - May 4, 1997 and attended by many ring doctors from around the world.

10.  Ring Action Newsletter, this quarterly newsletter is to inform  the boxing fraternity of the positive current events happening in the sport in and out of Zimbabwe, (First issue May 1997)
