Welcome to my Anim8or website!

Although I already have this image, I am not content with it, so any requests would be GREAT!

News

  • 12/01/02 : I have not updated this site since forever, probably about 2 years. I am thinking about scraping everything and maybe even switching everything to streaming video tutorials. This site has been most help to beginners and I thought videos would be even better for beginners.. So, sorry for the broken links and the outdated tutorials (v.5!!) . I should be doing something within the next month, and if not, I'll mention something...

  • 3/24/00 : I have made a new tutorial on how to make a sword with Anim8or v 0.65 . It makes use of the edge drawing tool, the fill holes tool, merge faces tool, extrude connected tool, peak tool, flatten faces tool, and select face edges command. Pretty cool stuff! Click here to view it.

  • 3/4/00 : Beginners rejoice! Lol. I have made new tutorials for anim8or that will help you get to know anim8or! the best thing is that they are in AVI FORMAT!!! shows you the figure mode, sequence mode, scene mode, and the interface. please be patient to download. visit tutorials page!

  • 1/25/00 : I thought you guys should know: Im getting a new computer basically, piece by piece, it comes out to be cheaper. Its an Athlon Thunderbird 900, oc at 1000 on an Asus a7v with 384 mb memory on a 17" monitor, 16" VIA at 1240x1024x24 with an Elsa Gladic Geforce2 GTS 32MB . Anim8or is going to be SO SWEET. There are Geforce2's out there for $86!! Visit my Links Page to get to the 2 best computer sites int he world.

I also updated the tutorials Page by adding a colis tutorial made by Lloyd and a shadows tutorial made by Laszlo . Great tutorials. Its funny, if there's a will, there's a way. With anim8or, anim8or doesnt have reflections or shadows but look, people have made up for it and their renders look WAY better.

  • 1/12/00 : Im back from my vacation to Puerto Rico for a month. I have 1 or 2 more tutorials coming, but I just posted a new one. Visit the Tutorials Page and click on the "Polygon Reduction" Link. Hope you enjoy!

  • 11/28/00 : Small update today again. Only 1 new image in my Image Gallery. This is my first attempt at making Dice and also by using Lloyd's scene mirror tutorial.

  • 11/21/00 : Small update today. Only 1 new image in my Image Gallery. I am going to be making a skeleton solider with this guy. Hopefully I will make a movie with an army of these type of characters going head to head with another army....maybe one of my ogre characters in my gallery? ;-)

  • 11/20/00 : I added a new tip to my tips page. It shows an easier way to select edges, points, and faces with more complex models.

  • 11/18/00 : I added a new iamge to my image gallery. you can find this mesh available at the Anim8ortrade website.

  • 11/17/00 : I added a new image to my Image gallery that was made totally with splines. Check it out!

I made a new website! you can visit it by clicking here. Or you can goto my links page and click on the link there. Please send in your models so that the site can grow with Anim8or files!!

  • 11/15/00 : I wrote a spline tutorial today. Just talks breifly about spline modelling and concepts and it disscusses a smoothing technique I call "Bevel Smoothing". Check it out on the tutorials page.

Oh, I decided to postpone the md2 conversion tutorial because I am experimenting with the file format so that I can make an md2 converter specfically for Anim8or. Hopefully itll turn out ok.

UPDATE: I kinda redid the tips page. (Its available as a link off my tutorials page at the bottom.) I also added two new tips to it. Check it out!

  • 11/3/00 : Ok I chopped up the tutorial a bit more. Now you can select which part of the Project Model tutorial you want to do. Thanks for the comments on the Forum. :-)

  • 11/2/00 : YIPPE!! After countless hours, PROJECT Model is finally done!!! Click here to go to the tutorials page. I am glad thats over...there are over 100 images on the whole project!! I hopw you learn something.

  • 10/30/00 : Anim8or v.6 is out!! Woo hoo!! O, I am quite sure you arent as excited as I am, but there are so many new things and improvements. Download it!!!! (goto the Anim8or site from the link on my links page.) I have a new tutorial on my tutorials page BREIFLY explaining the new stuff in Anim8or. Oh well..I just got the texturing part of the Project model tutorial, so I might as well post it up. Goto the tutorials page for the 2 new tutorials!

  • 10/15/00 : Hi. I completed my Version .6 tutorial yesterday. I added 2 new images up in the Images Gallery. I was playing with the beveling tool in anim8or, and I tell you, it really helps add detail into your models... Once you get anim8or version .6, play with the bevel modelling tool, its really neat! Also, I added a new tip on the Tips page.

  • 10/8/00 : Hello again people. I just completed a little test animation of my devil man. You can download him Here. Tell me what you tihnk about it on the Forum. In other news, I think I might be done with my human character. See my Previews Page for more info.

  • 10/2/00 : I am a beta tester for anim8or!! I am testing version .6 beta right now and I gotta tell you...IT IS AWESOME!! Here,...check out this screenshot I took from my character I made with it: (Notice the bones influences, arc rotate feature, and upper toolbar added!) Texturing is wickedly better, anim8or is GREAT, and sequences can be exported to individual frames, which means that all you gamers out there can make quake md2 model frames with anim8or !!! (all you need is a compiler to put all those 3ds files together and viola! md2 model.) Actually,..I am hoping that you can do that because right now anim8or exports all those frames into one file and none of those modellers/ converters support multiple frames in 3ds files. Gee, I guess anim8or really is more advanced than the crowd ;-) On another note, if you want to be a beta tester, email me. the link is at the bottom of the page. Steve needs as many bugs stomped out of anim8or before the polished release, so the more the better,..I think.

  • 9/17/00 : I updated my human character,..all I have to do now is texture him and do his head, and I'll have a character ready to be put into halflife or any other game.. Sweet

  • 9/16/00 : I updated my human character and you can see him on my Previews Page. I am modelling the face now.

  • 9/15/00 : No updates in a long time! I am currently working with a team of people making several rpgs and I am one of their cgi modellers! ;-) You can visit their site at The Jallabs Homepage Also, I added a new model to my Previews Page. I will be making a tuorial on how to model a human character similar to this guy some time soon,...So stay tuned to my site!!!

  • 8/30/00 : I was reading a message on the anim8or forum which was about morph targets in poser and I wondered how accurate and smooth the animations would be if the object's vertices were being moved around in its high-poly state. So I wondered, "Why not make a lower poly control mesh of the object and animate it and smooth it? Well, I made a simple little animation of my modelling method which doesnt have a name yet. I was considering calling it "Low-Smooth animating", but thats weird. Anyway, what it is, is taking the the "control mesh, or the "low poly" version of the object, moving the vertices around to simulate the animation, and then smoothing the object to get the finished, smooth version of the edited object. You can check out the test animation Here. Tell me what you think about it. Oh yeah and also, I just figured out that the animation is so simple, you can repoduce the same thing just by scaling the object, but I didnt scale the object, I did my little method.

(Later today. Actually 5 mins later) I made a "better" example of my animation method. Its animating a face to move the lips and can be seen Here. Actually What I forgot to say is that if you actually morphed the objects and had interpolation, or, in-between frames, animation would be a lot smoother. Hopefully anim8or will include this in future releases, like .7 or .8.

Yup, I was right. Here is another one. Click Here to see it.

  • 8/18/00 : I added a couple of new images to my Images Page. I made the second one when I found my old sleep animal I have had since when I was a day old. So I just picked it up off of my desk and modelled it. The First model is a basic human model I made with weird smoothing done to it.

I also had something bad to me today on Anim8or. While I was remodelling my drums, Anim8or froze on me and I didnt save! so that really discouraged me from making an updated drum set, but I will propably try tomorrow.

  • 8/17/00 : I added a new image to my Images Page! Please tell me what you think of it :-)

I did something else at the last minute! Actually, over here its 12:30, meaning its tomorrow, but I'll still post this as today. Anyway, I made that little texturing tutorial which shows how to do a per-face textured box. Check it out on the Tutorials Page!

  • 8/16/00 : Nothing much today. A few updates here and there, and I added my email address at the bottom of this page, so if you want to email me BE MY GUEST!

  • 8/15/00 : I made a new tutorial that shows how to hollow simple things out instead of using Anim8ors' non-existant booleans. Check it out on the Tutorials Page!

I have also included the images in my Image gallery

  • 8/14/00 : Fixed the Error on my webpage that always came up when you visit it. I also worked for 3 hours today and finished my Devil Guy Tutorial. Check him out on the Tutorials Page!

I will be making another texturing tutorial some time. Also, I am going to be making a tutorial or two that was requested by an anim8or user. Hope you all benefit from it.
