Ephesians Chapter 1

There is an enormous power in believing in the Lord Jesus Christ.  A power that is simply incomprehensible by man.  "And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to usward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power,/ Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him form the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places,/ Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come:/ And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church,/ Which is his body, the fullness of him that filleth all in all" (Ep 1:19-23).  The victory of Jesus on the cross placed God victor over all principality and power in this world and the world to come.  It is easy for someone to die on the cross, but when God raised Him from the dead, there was the victory.  Certainly there must have been some sense of tragedy, but the death and resurrection of Christ is the day of victory, the Christian's day of indepencence from the chains of satanic oppression and damnation.  There is no power left, no name that is named, no dominion, or principality that God has left to defeat.  The supremacy of God over all things should possess us as we are one body in the Lord.  We are the body of Christ, and that power can give us victory day by day over an evil that refuses to give up until the last days.
