This is my page. It’s not exciting, but it’s mine.
A year ago I was looking to buy an antique Victrola. While looking for the right one, I stumbled across a Regina Musical Box for sale. The poor thing needed to be completely restored. I bought it and entered a world I had never known before. While looking for help on how to get this poor box restored, I met my friend Nancy Fratti. If you ever want to know anything about musical boxes, you can ask Nancy. “She’s never written any books, so you can imagine how much she knows”.
I’ve been interested in automatic music since I was a child. I used to go down to my Grandmother’s garage and pump the pedals of her player piano. The sad part was that they didn’t do anything so I had to play it myself while pumping. With my step-grandfather, I got that player playing but wanted more. Today, I have a 5’10” 1923 Wm Knabe Ampico reproducing grand. Sitting on top of it are a couple of my musical boxes. Right now I’m working on restoring two of them and I currently have two more in queue. I have here a pictorial history of my Regina project. I hope you enjoy it. Here’s a short article I wrote for my company newsletter called 200-year-old-high-tech.
I also love to cook.
