The Imperial Prognosticator

     Within the province taken recently by Talinie, Thane Donalls declared martial law with the intention of finding and removing the various bandits present within the province and the foul the Vos of the Five Peaks cult. I am sure that everyone is looking forward to her success and the establishment of order with the formerly lawless land of the Five Peaks.

     The situation between Lord Protector Viktor Doome and Guildmaster Andien  deteriorated when Martial law in Cariele, targeted against Andien Imports and Exports. When the Guildmaster heard of the news, he quickly left a merchant party in Nowelton and his son didn’t appear in the ceremony later. Andien is rumored to have left the city with his guards.

As response to martial law in Cariele, Bannier Andien sent his decree which was posted in many places all around Cariele:

”Seeing the valour of the soldiers of Cariele who had to fight against undead horrors in the Five Peaks,  and seeing that the realm bureaucracy is perhaps too slow to react in time I hereby decree that:

-          no woman, who has lost her husband in battle;

-          no family, of which the only man earning an income has fallen;

-          no mother who lost a son;

-          no soldier who lost an arm, leg or has been crippled and become unable to earn an income,

shall starve of hunger, or die because of lack of medicinal care.

Every person in need may apply at my guilds main administrations in Riverford, Mountainsedge, Mhellivene or Puinol to receive free medical aid and a free meal. And for those who want to drink on the health and good fortune of Bannier Andien there will always be a cup of beer or a pitcher of wine available.

Currently makeshift rooms and part of the entrance hall of my guild administration will be used, but in the next month my guild will start building a shelter for those without a home, and extend the medical care by building a hospital. If there are no hindrances I hope to finish the building before the next winter”

Many healers, cooks and other civil servants were soon hired by Andien’s men to provide for the poor of Cariele. Sadly, the whole arrangement was interrupted by soldiers of Cariele who closed down the guildhouses and arrested many merchants who were known to be associates of Bannier Andien.

In other news about Cariele, Lord Protector Viktor Doome seems determined to conquer Cariele. A road connecting Puniol with the capital was started and scared workers worked almost without pause to leave the Five Peaks as soon as possible. As a result, half of the road leading from Five Peaks to Mhelliviene is complete, but the portion of road starting at Caerlinien is still incomplete. To support the economic and territorial expansion of Cariele, consturcion of a Great Workshop was started in Caerlinien City. The finest craftsmen and artists of Cariele have already been hired into the Lord-Protector’s service.

Black magic is at work in Five Peaks again. Alamie’s army strengthened by many mercs invaded the region. Soon after entering Sufhanie, the army changed course and invaded Tuornen occupying Ghonallison. The remaining mercenaries and reinforcements from Ghoere were chased away by powerful magic. Daeric Alam, Duke’s cousin, perished in the attack and it is rumored that Nakar Oeren, Court Wizard of Alamie and Brosengae, met similar fate.

The army of Cariele also invaded Five Peaks from the east, but met a similar fate. The army was lead by Viktor Doome himself, accompanied by his wife Ariane Mhelliviene, Archdruid Theodore Aericsen, Wizard Regien and a mysterious Elven person. After occupation of Floodspeath, the party met with unseen attackers and had a magical combat in which the soldiers couldn’t help. The army fled back to Puniol and it is rumored that Viktor Doome’s sanity was damaged in the fight. The rumors are supported by the fact that Lady Ariane has taken over command of the army and administration of Cariele.

The army of Cariele invaded Torain next, but were met by a horde of Gnolls, Ogres, Anuireans and Vos. In a battle full of magic, both sides suffered heavy losses and LadyAriane, seemingly unwilling to take greater casaulties, ordered retreat. The surviving soldiers were finally able to relate the tales of Dark Knights appearance. He is arotting corpse in a heavy armor. The soldiers claim that they have never seen better armor in their life, even on their leaders, but also that they have never seen a more vilecreature. He rides a vile black horse with fire in its nostrils. He is surrounded by a band of powerful undead creatures which serve as his bodyguards, and he is alsoreported to have magical powers.

After Carielean armies retreated to Puniol, Carielean scouts reported that many of their former comrades rose from the dead to serve in the Dark Knight’s army.  This does not bode well for the realms that border the Five Peaks.
