Hobbits
Bilbo - Ian Holm. Bilbo is an advernturous hobbit that has seen many lands and met many people. He is Frodo's cousin (Sort of) and took Frodo in as his heir. On his 11th birthday, he leaves the Shire and goes off to travel Middle-earth once again. When Frodo leaves the Shire on his quest to distroy the Ring, he meets Bilbo in Rivendell, where the counsil of Elronfd is held and the fate of the Ring is dicided.

Frodo - Elijah Wood. Frodo is the cousin and heir to Bilbo Baggins, and he becomes the one person that must destroy the One Ring by casting it into the fires of Mount Doom. He travels with his faithful friend, Sam, and together they are able to destroy the Ring. However, on his journey, Frodo suffers stabwounds, poison,and the loss of his finger, which is bitten off by Smeagol, who wants the Ring for himself. A few years after the Ring is destroyed, Frodo sails to the Grey Havens with Gandalf, Elrond, Bilbo, and Galadriel, and is never seen again.

Elijah Wood: 
Samwise - Sean Astin. Samwise (Sam) is a dear friend of Frodo's, and travels with him in the quest to destroy the Ring. Sam, who was raised asd a gardener, usually tended to Frodo's lawn at Bag End, but he went with Frodo as his ever-faithful servant. Sam helped Frodo through every leg of his journey, and even bnore the Ring for a short while, during which he found why his master was struggling with it's weight. After the adventure with the Ring was over, he settled down with his new wie, Rosie, and lived in Bag End with Frodo, (until he sailed to the Grey Havens) Rosie, and his 13 children. He became Mayor of Hobbiton seven times, and lived a good, long life before he was last seen by his eldest daughter, Elanor, and sailed away to the Grey Havens himself.

Meriadoc - Dominic Monahan? Meriadoc (Merry) is a light-hearted friend of Frodo's. Though he is often seen smoking his pipe and goofing off with Pippin, Merry helps Frodo through the first part of his journey. As the Fellowship breaks, Merry and Pippin are taken by Orcs and narrowly avoid being taken to Isengard, thanks to the Riders of Rohan, who slay their Orc captors. They stray into Fangorn Forest and meet Treebeard, a wise Ent, who helps the Hobbits take Isengard with the other Ents. They meet up with Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli again when the trio comes to Isengard, and together, the five and Gandalf ride off to Rohan. When Gandalf takes Pippin to Gondor, and Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli ride through the Paths of the Dead, Merry is left behind. He becomes a servant to King Theoden, and continues to be a servant of the Mark until his death.

Pippin - Billy Boyd. Pippin (His real name is Peregrin) is a young Hobbit who is a dear frind of Frodo and Merry. The youngest Hobbit in the Fellowship, Pippin often feels left out, since he has not had as much worldly experience as the others in the Fellowship. He and Merry are taken by Orcs when the Fellowship breaks, and narrowly escape from the Orcs when the Riders of Rohan arrive. The two Hobbits go to Isengard with an Ent named Treebeard and they seize the city. Pippin is taken by Gandalf to Gondor after Pippin foolishly looks into one of the ancient Seeing Stones. Once there, he becomes a soldier of Gondor, and serves under Denethor until the Steward's death. After the War is over, Pippin returns to the Shire to help repair the damage, but then, after getting married and having a son, Faramir I, he goes back to Gondor until his death.

Elves
Elrond - Hugo Weaving. Elrond was one of the Elves that formed an alliance with Men to bring an end to Sauron's power the first time, and he was there when Isaidur betrayed his kind and claimed the Ring his own. Elrond is the father of the fair Arwen and the lord of the Elven city of Rivendell. Elrond saves Frodo from becoming a Raith after he is stabbed by a Morgul blade. He also hosts the Counsil of Elrond, where the fate of the One Ring is decided. A few years after the War of the Ring is over, he sails to the Grey Havens with Frodo, Bilbo, Gandalf, Galadriel, and many others of his kind.

Arwen - Liv Tyler. Arwen is the duaghther of Elrond and Celebrain, who is the child of Celeborn and Galadriel of Lothlorien. While visiting her father in Rivendell, she meets the young Aragorn. They eventually fall in love, and Arwen surrenders her immortality to live with Aragorn. The two eventually get married just after Aragorn assumes the position of King of Gondor. The two have one son and several daughters, and they live happily ever after.

Legolas - Orlando Bloom. OKay, I have to get this off my chest. First things first, Orlando Bloom is the hottest Elf in the world. He enters the scene during the Council of Elrond, and he becomes a member of the Fellowship of the Ring along with Gimli the Dwarf and Aragorn. He is able to get the Fellowship leave into Lothlorien, and his keen eyes and ears get the group out of many tight spots. After the Fellowship breaks, he travels with Aragorn and Gimli to track down Merry and Pippin. However, at first they don't find the Hobbits, but the find Gandalf, who takes the trio to Rohan. Rohan is about to be at war as Sauron's forces come closer and closer to their borders. During the battle of Helm's Deep, Legolas and Gimli are deep in their own amusing battle: who can kill the most Orcs. Much to the dislike of many female fans, Legolas admits defeat to Gimli, who killed one more Orc. Eventually, Aragorn, Legolas, Gimli , and Gandalf meet up with Merry and Pippin in Isengard. The group travels back to Rohan, where Aragorn, Gimli, and Legolas leave Gandalf, Merry, and Pippin to travel the Paths of the Dead. After the Ring is no more, Legolas travels for a time with Gimli before returning to Mirkwood. Shortly after Aragorn's death, Legolas and Gimli sail away to the Grey Havens. And all the while, he looks really hot doing it.
