HENRY TOLAR was born 1789 in Cumberland Co., North Carolina (Newburn, North Caroline), died 06 Oct 1867 in Tyler County, Texas and was buried in Tyler County, TX. He married on 01/04 Dec 1812 in Marion Co., Mississippi to Catherine (Kitsy) MaGee, born 24/31 Jan 1797 in (Chesterfield Co., SC) Sampson County, North Carolina and died 03 May 1852 in Simpson County, Mississippi. She was the daughter of Philip MaGee and Mary (Polly) Bulter.

Henry was in Lawrence County, Mississippi by the early 1800's. On 20 Dec 1811, he obtained a passport in Georgia to cross Indian Territory with his brother William. In the 1860 Federal Census, Henry was living in the household of his daughter, Nancy, in Tyler County, Texas. He registered a mark and a brand in the Tyler County Clerk's Office.
