I took GRE exam  in new format on 20th of October. My Quan Score was 800, verbal 650 and my Analytical essay 4. I think I should have had practiced more on topic writing :( however I think I did rather well for an Iranian student and I try to help my friends to do well in GRE. I think GRE and visa are 2 really challenging obstacles in our way.

One of my friends got a score of 510 in verbal without studying a single word and one of boy got a score of 550 after studying 3000 words.

So be careful about the readings and feel free to choose the most similar word if you do not know the meaning. This Pouya just used his talent. So try to use your own and practice this by doing sample tests. 

I used just the first  and God also helped me. I used to read them while in taxi and bus. Do not try to learn them by heart. Just having a vague idea about the word and the group it falls into is sufficient. Pay much attention to word groups. For example you will encounter a lot of words having a meaning close to disagree, hate, etc. We had a book issued by Khaje-Nasir university which had about  50 sample exams in it. Just looking at them helps you very much. Pay  much attention to your reading ability because the readings are long  but being able to read the fast will unbelievably increase your  score.
