Story:
Sonic: Whilst on his vacation to the bustling city of Station Square, a mysterious creature, who appears to be made out of water, attacks the city. The police are useless against it so Sonic steps in. He easily defeats the monster who then escapes down a drain. The next day (I think) Sonic is relaxing by the pool in his hotel, napping, when a plane piloted by Sonic's best buddy Tails is falling out of the sky. After rescuing the fox, they go to Tails's workshop in the Mystic Ruins only to find Eggman! He reveals that the watery creature is called Chaos, and the Chaos Emeralds make him stronger. Sonic must stop Eggman before Chaos becomes indestructible!
Tails: Tails is testing his new plane, which by the way runs on a chaos emerald, when it goes out of control and lands on the beach at Station Square. Sonic rescues the furry one and is then shocked by the Chaos Emerald. They both go to Tails workshop where Eggman appears! Eggman steals the emerald and feeds it to Chaos before they both escape. Our heroes must stop Eggman!
Knuckles: Knuckles is the guardian of the Master Emerald. He is awoken one night by a smashing sound. He soon realises that the Master Emerald is broken into a million pieces! His only clue is the liquid being standing infront of him. The suspect disappears and knocks Knuckles into Station Square. Meanwhile, Angel Island is left to crash into the sea next to the Mystic Ruins. Knuckles immediately starts his mission to repair the emerald and search for the thing that knocked him off the island.
Amy: Whilst shopping on Station Square, a little green bird with a giant neclace crashes into Amy. Amy sees the robot chasing the bird and puts 2 and 2 together and saves the bird from certain capture. Soon she bumps into Sonic. She tries to get Sonic to help protect the bird, but he refuses. So they just tag along anyway.
E-102 Gamma: Built by Dr Eggman, E-102, codename 'Gamma', is the second of the E-100 series of badniks. After proving itself by defeating its older 'brother' E101-Beta. Eggman sends Gamma and the rest of the E-100 robots to find a frog who he believes is in pocession of a Chaos Emerald. Gamma is constanly the victim of odd visions of three little birds. After releasing a captive called Amy Rose, Gamma goes on a quest to release his friends, the other E-100 robots.
Big the Cat: Big is a not to smart cat. He and his friend Froggy (a frog) are always having fun fishing and playing in the jungle around the temple in the mystic ruins. But recently, Froggy has been behaving oddly. Also he has grown a tail. Froggy then swallows Big's lucky charm, a Chaos Emerald, and runs away. Big gives chase and ends up in Station Square. Can big find Froggy and find out whats going on?
Chaos Emeralds (out of 7)

Sonic Adventure launched the Dreamcast around the world. It remained on of the Dreamcast's best selling games throughout the console's short life. This game was the first to feature the Chao, a virtual pet type thing. This game had top graphics and a brilliant score to support the action on screen, but did have its critics. Many people didn't like the RPG-esque landscapes between the action stages. I was one of many who didn't apreciate some of the slower paced levels of Knuckles and Big. But I think everyone dispised Sonic Team for the lack of hidden extras for getting emblems. I, like many, was disappointed to not have anything for getting all the emblems. However there were lots of things which did take advantage of the Dreamcast's online capabilities. These included the ability to enter competitions, trade chao, download extra stages, etc. The game also took advantage of the VMU with the ability to transfer Chao to it to play 'Chao Adventure'. This game is overall very good and is one of the best Sonic games ever.
