Description: Sonic's ultimate enemy, Dr. Eggman, has been there since the very beginning. While he is a genius, Eggman is more than a little insane. His main army consists of machines he calls 'Badniks', which run on the energy of small animals trapped inside them. His ultimate goal in life is to defeat Sonic and conquer the world, but is always defeated. Eggman feels the need to defeat Sonic himself, for example in Sonic 2 on the Master System he saves Sonic from falling to his death in lava in order to defeat him by his own devices. Sonic and Eggman have been enemies for a long time, and no-one knows how this began, yet. Despite his failures, Eggman never gives up trying to defeat Sonic and his friends.

The 'Robotnik' that was in this game was actually from the Sonic cartoon 'The Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog'. (AoSTH for short) who doesn't really look like the pictured Robotnik.
Useless Info: If you spell Robotnik's first name, Ivo, backward, you get Ovi, which means egg. And if you look at Robotnik very closely, you may see more than a passing resemblance Nintendo's rival mascot.
