THE HISTORICAL BACKGROUND OF EXCELLENT SOCIAL CLUB OF NIGERIA PORT HARCOURT HEADQUARTERS:
As a young Marketing Graduate from a reputable Nigeria University who eventually found himself in a business i then discovered that there was a total lack of collectivism and fratanity in my business area as compared with my school enviroment.
It was on this premise that i started nurture the concept of floating an organisation that would cement this gap that existed between my academic world and my business world, but i was lost on how, when, where and the courage to form this kind of group.
However, my associationship with two groups which i belong to while in University did not help matters.
This was because of the groups woeful ends which where caused by personnal aggrindisements, intrigues, pride and ego centricisms. The memory of woeful moribund of this two groups decimated my mind set towards the plan for a new organisation therefore i left the issue lying low in my mind
FORMATION STAGE
There are the intrinsic and extrinsic factors before an organisation of the nature is formed. The intrinsic factor take care of such issue like membership protections, safty and security, wedding, other ceremonies, deaths, and other personnal social benefits while extrinsic factors bother on those issues like philantropic gesture, public enlightment etc...
However being a typical Nigeria and having been born and bred in this country, my vision has always been how to reach to the people, solve people's problems and be of immense asistance through personal efforts.
Nevertheless, it was in january 1999 when i started marriage courtship with my wife Mrs Eunice.G.Durugo that the issue of forming a club rekindled in my mind. One day, in one of our discussions she rhetorically asked me which club i belong to but i answered none. She got infuriated on such answer and wondered how we could wedding without a club honouring it and the encouraged me to go and register in one club. It was at this point that i sold my earlier resolution to float an association which will stand the test of time and since then we agreed to to do it meticulously and quick too.
I moved in to action by first approaching Mr Kenneth.O.Igara a fellow graduate who studied mechanical engineering and who is in the same line of business with me, when i told him of the need to flaot an organisation of like minds, he bought the idea immediately and agreed that he would sell the idea to some other people. However, i convened the first ever meeting of the club in my house, on the 9th of may 1999 and about nine persons where in attendance, in the said meeting we agreed to continue it and be holding meeting every sunday of the weeks until such a time it will stand firm.
We also agreed to shift the venue of the meeting to the house of one Mr Okechukwu Okoli who had a more spacious enviroment than mine, we also made some personal donations to see the workability of the group. The more we held meetings, the more our membership increases i was cordinating the affairs of the group both as the protem secretary and chairman at the same time but because of my educational background, the members asked me to be the interim secretary while the position of the president was given to Mr Okechukwu Okoli, Mr Mathias Durugo was appointed the treasurer while Mr Kenneth Igara became the finacial secretary and Mr Mike Emeka was the provost.
It was in one of those meetings that we delibrated a name to go by,we chose the name EXCELLENCE COMMITEE OF FRIENDS after several surgested names it was there too that we agreed on a common greeting pattern among members and the logo we should be known with. Then, having had a working structure we began to look for rules to conduct the affairs of the group. We then establish a constitutional drafting commitee headed by Mr Maxmillian Osuigwe to draft a comprehensive and walkable constitution for us, the commitee was commisioned on 6th june 1999 but the constitution was read and adopted on 2nd of August 1999
