THE INITIAL CRISIS OF THE CLUB

When Okechukwu Okoli became the first executive president of the club, his style and manner of conducting the affairs of the group was not satisfactory to the majority, he was somehow derogatory in his address to the members during meetings, he was pompous and the egotism factor entered into his psyche very much and members where not happy that the first ever appointed leader should behave this way and they started shopping for a new person to unseat him through a democratic way as at then the numerical strength of the club have cataputted to fifty and the called for an all embracing election.
Having given us a workable constitution some of us discovered the leadership qualities in Maxmillian Osuigwe a political science graduate and who headed the constitution draftin committee.We consulted him to lead the group which he agreed and we started convassing for his support to the elective No1 position of the club. During election, the club found itself into two different camps-those fronting Okechukwu Okoli and those for Maxmillian Osuigwe. On 31st August 1999 the election where conducted freely and fairly and Maxmillian Osuigwe won by simply majority and Okechukwu Okoli as the vice president and my self the founder of the club retained my portfolio as the secretary general the elective possitions where enlarge to thirteen in number.
Immediately after the election problems started brewing up. Okechukwu Okoli and his group started formenting troubles by laying accusations and counter accusations against the elected president and the secretary. They refused obeying instruction and where doing things inimical to the progress of the club, at executive level they could not allow others to perform there duties deligently yet we tried as much as possible to acomodate them.
However they reach at their elastic limit when Okechukwu Okoli and his group attempted to defraud the club by falsely going to the tresurer Benedict Anyanwu to demand the clubs money so that they could use it to find another meeting venue, Benedict Anyanwu wondered when such decision was taken and contacted the president but the president confermed it a lie, because of this, an emmergency general meeting was called on 3rd july 2000 and members after critically looking at the issue, condemed that actions and expelled them from the club and ordered them to handover the club belongins in their possessions back to the club within 48 hours.
However, when we wrote them individually to handover all those club properties back to the club, the told us that they will not do it because they where real members of excellence committee of friends.The went and formed there own group with the same name and greeting pattern, anthem, logo and so on, and even convinced some of our weak members to their side.When we saw this we made plan to hand them over to law enforcement agents but the barrister we consulted prevailed upon us against such tedious legal battle, rather they encouraged us to go and register with the name first before making any claim from them.
When we went for registeration at corperate affairs commission, Abuja, we where informed that a group from ogun state had already registered with the name. Then, we started registeration process with EXCELLENT FRIENDS SOCIAL CLUB OF NIGERIA which the computer accepted. since then till now, Okoli and his group are still operating with the past name Excellence Committee Of Friends and have been operating as a club and their venue is still that place they said is not condusive for them.
However we allowed our logo and greetings to remain as they where and changed our anthem and name because the sensitive nature of the post of finiacial secretary the club in a congress meeting appointed Maximus Njoku as the finicial secretary. Also Benedict Anyanwu felt he has betrayed his friends by reporting to the club which saw their exit, he stopped being active in his duties as the tresurer.this did not go well with the club and his membership was teminated.
However the president Maxmillian Osuigwe started holding two portfolios the presidency and the treasurer because there was no one to trust that could be keeping our money safe then. While i was the secretary and as the Vice president. The affiars of the club where conducted by this officers until the second general election held on 17th june 2002, which brought this present executive council members. We thank GOD Almighty who gave us the wisdom to tactically handle the crisis otherwise the club would have not existed till date. GOD also single handedly winnowed the chaffs away from us and carved a good part for us to follow

THE CLUB'S PROSPECT

Exellent friend social club of Nigeria, Port Harcourt headquarters has come of age. it has been proven to stand the test of time, the members are well cordinated, peaceful and coherent in their activities. We are prospecting to be one of the leading club and NGOs in the country and international community.GOD being by our side we MUST acomplish this mission.
