April 20, 2005 - Update - Reunion Phone Call
10 Year Reunion
Eagles of 1995
First Committee Meeting Notes and Other Feedback
Dear Eagles,
12 alumni have come forward to help with our reunion. We thank them for their time and enthusiasm. Of course, we can certainly use more help. Please look on the wish list and let me know how you may contribute if you have not already. I know this email web will be seen by at least 50 class alumni from one of two lists. It would be great to hear from each of you!!!!!
[email protected] or 704-367-0060
Thanks to Regina Page- you can always get updates on reunion planning on our class website. We will soon be trying to locate all alumni. We have our class list from 1995 and our parents addresses from that time. Please email me or the class website your updated information and any information about other classmates. Information like Sallys parents no longer live in the same house or Bertie passed away a year ago is also helpful for us to know.
The following notes are from the first committee meeting, emails and phone calls to me by classmates. We will begin making final decisions on some of the following questions and asking for commitments on our next Conference Call SUNDAY, APRil 24th at 7:00. Call in 605-990-0200 code 683134 to join.
Last housekeeping note if you are volunteering to lead or be on a committee may I use your name and contact information in emails and on the class website? Please let me know, as I want to protect everyones privacy.
Thanks for your interest and help!!!!!!
Emily

1. When should we have the reunion?
Homecoming Weekend is the preferred date. Tentatively set for September 23-25. The game will be East Versus Page.
2. What do we want to do to celebrate our 10th?
The idea of a fun weekend emerged involving three pieces.
Homecoming Gathering and Game
Start the weekend with a homecoming football game and school sponsored BBQ on Friday evening. We will have a meet and greet somewhere before the game, sit together, possibly lead the singing of the alma mater, or do something else together to make our presence known.
We need a Chairperson to lead the Homecoming Game part and coordinate the details.
Picnic on Saturday and Possibly Goofy Carnival
This is the big event where everyone is together. Since our phone conference, I have received feedback saying that an evening dinner as the big event will alienate many in our class due to the cost of attending. Recently other classes have not had a great turnout to their hotel type banquet dinners. Also, those events were not particularly fun for the attendees. So, our big event will be a day together at a local park and involve catered food like BBQ, live or DJ music, a goofy carnival invoking memories past and current class trivia, a couple of organized games like soccer, hopefully the presence of old teachers, a video presentation from our senior year, and a Class update. Video will be made available for sale on DVD. D.L. is going to oversee the class video.
Also, I learned that folks are not wanting to spend too much more than $20.00 per family for the big event. We should shoot for a total family cost between $20-$40 for this event.
Chairperson: C.G. is considering chairing this event. I have heard from others who want to be on this committee. I think we need a second chairperson to coordinate the carnival part of it to guarantee that it is really good. Also, if anyone knows of a local band or DJ that would play for us, please let me know.
If anyone wants to take charge of a piece of this event, please let me know so I can connect you to the chairperson.
Saturday Evening Out on the Town
An evening gathering place will be selected for alumni to eat, dance, drink, and socialize. There will be at least a common toast to our class and good wishes expressed for our future. Reservations will be requested so we can inform the establishment.
Chairperson: Ginger Brock. She is also going to coordinate hotel accommodations for the class.
3. How can we contact our fellow classmates? We are going to contact local churches, utilize our class list from East, inform East of our plans, put a couple of ads in the newspaper, use the website and email. Possibly send a formal invitation to those for whom we have contact information.
Chairperson needed for Alumni Contact. Also, if anyone can donate paper and envelopes for an invitation we would be most appreciative. Also, anyone able to donate money towards funding alumni contact we will be VERY thankful. $ for postage, ads, printing and paper supplies
4. What part(s) are you wanting to organize or help contribute toward? Needs and Wish List
Homecoming Game Chairperson, Homecoming Game Committee Volunteers, Reunion Buttons or T-Shirt, Saturday Picnic Committee Volunteers, Caterer, DJ or local band coordinator, Carnival Chairperson, Sports organizer, Picnic decorations and coordinator, Class reunion sign designer and contributor (preferably something durable we can use at all events and use as a welcome sign to put in front of the school.) Graphic Designer, Photographer, Security and Safety Coordinator, Treasurer, Legal/Insurance Researcher, Alumni Contact Coordinator, paper supplies.
We have D.L. able to help with talking to local access channel. We have J.G. as a lawyer in our class. He needs to be contacted. A.W. works in the police department and may be able to help coordinate safety. She needs to be contacted. C.N.R. and C.G. live in Kernersville and can help us locate resources.
5. Do we want to do any type of polls or gather any trivia about our class to be revealed at the reunion?
Yes! We have decided this will be a fun thing to do.
E.D.K. will put this together.
6. Do we want to do anything to give to East or the community?
8X8 stone with alma mater in granite. To be placed on school grounds J.W.L. suggested this idea. Other suggestions?????
Raise money via goofy carnival, t-shirt sales, video sales, and proceeds from food sales at picnic.
It will be wonderful to hear from as many of you. Please give me your feedback!
Thank you and best wishes,
Emily D. K.
