| Everton 2 Fulham 0, Goodison Park, Saturday 28 September 2002 | ||||||||||||
| Everton returned to winning ways in the Premiership with a thoroughly deserved win over Fulham. Two goals in the final minute of the first half gave The Blues a valuable three points against a good Fulham side. Joseph Yobo finally made his Everton debut after suffering injuries since his post World Cup transfer. In his first outing in a royal blue jersey the 5M Nigerian won every header, every tackle and always seemed to find another blue shirt with his distribution from the back. It was no coincidence that with Yobo's presence Everton kept a clean sheet for the first time in five Premiership games. The two goals in quick succession just before half time really left the Londoners with too much to do. The first goal was yet another Kevin Campbell header from a set piece. Mark Pembridge's free |

| kick from just outside the right hand edge of the penalty area had plenty of pace and Super Kev got the merest of flicks to divert it past the helpless Edwin van der Sar. The Evertonians were still celebrating the goal when The Blues doubled their advantage. Thomas Gravesen picked up the ball forty yards out and advanced unchallenged before unleashing a powerful drive from just outside the area that fizzed inside the post. In the second half Everton could of made it five or six! Campbell saw a good diving header miraculously saved by van der Sar, Tomasz Radzinski twice struck the frame of the goal and David Unsworth saw his ferocious drive tipped over by the big Dutch goalie. A very good performance from The Toffees ensured that Fulham have still never won a league game at Goodison Park. Everton; Wright, Hibbert, Weir, Yobo, Unsworth, Li Tie , Gravesen, Pembridge, Carsley, Campbell, Radzinski. Subs not used; Gerrard, Stubbs, Naysmith, Rooney, Ferguson.
