The Midlanders had taken the lead just after the break from the penalty spot. Alan Stubbs was dismissed for pulling back Stern John inside the area when he was one on one with Steve Simonsen. It was John who put the Brummies into the lead with a powerful penalty into the Park End net.
Following that came 40 minutes of constant Everton pressure but somehow Birmingham survived.
That is until injury time, when David Unsworth's shot took a deflection onto the post and went in off an unfortunate Brum defender.
This was really a game that Everton should of won so it has to go down as a disapointing result.
