METEORS |
What is a meteor? |
A meteor is what is referred to when we see a "shooting star" in the night sky. They are pieces of space debris that enter the Earth's atmosphere at very high speeds. Almost no meteors pose a real threat to us, because they usually are |

broken down into nothing by the time they would reach the surface. There have been some meteors that have made impact with the Earth's surface. These are called meteorites. Most of these impacts are relatively small, but there have been some massive craters made in the Earth's surface because of meteorites. |
