Two Olivetians Emerge Governors

Another landmark was recorded in the history of Olivet Heights Oyo when two old students of the famous institution emerged as Governors of their respective states during the recently concluded General Elections in Nigeria. They are Senator Rasheed Ladoja who won in Oyo State and Mr. Ayo Fayose elected in Ekiti State.

Prof. Abimbola Appointed Special Adviser to the President

Another distinguished Olivetian, Prof. Wande Abimbola, one-time Senate Leader and former Vice-Chancellor of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria has been appointed Special Adviser to the President of Nigeria on Culture and Traditional Affairs. Professor Abimbola currently based in the United States attended Olivet Heights Oyo between 1953 and 1957.

Bowen University Appoints Olivetian as Vice-Chancellor

The Governing Council of Bowen University, Iwo, Nigeria has appointed an Olivetian, Prof Timothy Olagbemiro as the Vice-Chancellor of the University. BU is one the new private universities in Nigeria and it is owned by the Baptist Convention.

Prof. Olagbemiro was at olivet in 1967 for his HSC. He would be resuming duty on the 1st of August 2003.

Olivetian Appointed Uniben Librarian

A substantive University Librarian has been appointed for the University of Benin. He is Mr. Adewale Samuel Ogunrombi. Until his new appointment, he was the Acting University Librarian at Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi.

Born 10th February, 1948, Mr Ogunrombi attended Olivet Baptish High School, Oyo from 1965 to 1969; Baptish School of Nursing, Eku from 1971 to 1974; University of Ibadan from where he obtained Bachelor of Science (Hons) degree in Nursing in 1979 and Master Degree inLibrary Studies in1982; and Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Oghomoso where he bagged a certificate in Electronic Data processing in 1992.

A widely traveled man, Mr. Ogunrombi has attended Several conferences/seminars within and outside the country. Prominent among them is an international seminar on library staff management and Development organized by the British Council in Cardiff, U.K.

A prolific writer, Mr. Ogunrombi has to his credit, over forty-five published articles in reputable local and foreign journals. He is a member of Nigerian Library Association and National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives. He is married with five children.
