Varsity Student Cracks Maths Theorem

A 300 level mathematics student of Benue State University (BSU), Mr. Garshagu Michael Atoivgba has come up with novel theorems of mathematic. The theorems which were presented at a five-day National Conference of the Mathematical Association of Nigeria (MAN) held in Makurdi, have been described as a major break through in the area of Applied Mathematics. Atoivgba's work also provides a formula for finding roots of the quadratic function called Yahweh's formula.

Participants confirmed that the breakthrough has also rendered the much celebrated "Almighty formula" for roots of quadratic function obsolete.

The formula that was presented and defended by its proponent before a cream of Professors and other participants, according to Atoivgba, now provides the opportunity countries to calculate the landmass and distances of their countries.

At the moment, he insisted, the geographic distances being attributed to Nigeria or any other countries are mere assumptions. With the new theory however, he said one can easily and conveniently calculate the surface distance with little data particularly, if given a perpendicular distance of a latitude from the North Pole to any surface point on the latitude.

The theory has come up with a meridian function with the polar axis of the spheres as closed domain and any meridian as range, thus generating distances on sphere's surface, surface areas and volumes of parts of, or the entire sphere. To achieve this, Atoivgba said he divided the globe into banana regions to come up with a formula more universal than existing ones. Atoivgba also defined the quadratic function as a locus of the variable isosceles triangle and the sphere as a locus of a variable cone.

He also described the eclipse as a pair of opposite quadratic functions in the closed domain of their common roots.
