The Eastern Ontario Gilwell Reunion, better known as the EOGR,
is a yearly opportunity for Scouters of all ages
both active and retired to get together to renew old friendships and make new ones.
The EOGR has been held annually since 1962, in the form of a weekend camp, at Camp Opemikon near Perth. it is traditionally held the 3rd weekend in September, It is a fun filled weekend where Scouters can take part in any or all events offered, or just sit around swapping yarns with other Scouters. Some events have a long and distinguished history with the EOGR, such as the "Christie Cup Challenge" a croquet game. This is not just any old civilized "British" game of Croquet. This is "EOGR RULES" croquet. You have to come to see the fun. The "Jubilee Jug Challenge" A dfferent event each year, along with many other events round out the weekend. While the Reunion takes place over the entire weekend, Scouters can choose how long they wish to attend. Many Scouters attend the entire event from Friday evening until Sunday afternmoon. However, it is possible to attend only Saturday or on Saturday and Sunday. The fees reflect these differences. However, you look at it the EOGR is a great way to charge your Scouting batteries and get ready for the events yet to come in another fun filled Scouting year. |
