The Christie Cup Challenge

In 1965 a croquet tournament was held as part of the program at the 4th EOGR.

The winners were awarded a trophy--a plastic cookie jar mounted on a wooden base with the
Gilwell "Axe and Log" fastened to the lid. The Reunion that year was held at the Christie Lake Boys Camp AND one of the committee members, who worked for the Christie Cookie company, filled the Jar of the trophy with Christies Cookies. These events resulted in this trophy being named the "Christie Cup Challenge".

40 years later the croquet tournament is still a part of the EOGR program and the "Christie Challenge Cup" is still awarded to the winning team.

Sadly the original cup was destroyed in a car accident many years ago, but a new one was designed with a style more in keeping with the game of croquet, BUT it is still called the "Christie Challenge Cup".
