It's been a while since I worked on this one, that's for sure! I've finally settled down, and got some serious work done on the car now. Now that I am no longer driving the 59 anymore, what else am I supposed to do? hehe.

Using a flat blade screwdriver, I started peeling up the old tarboard floor insulation. Bad part was, the car sat outside in 120 degree heat for, I don't know how long, and all the tarboards were melted to the floor. It took a good number of hours to get the majority of it off the pan and tunnel. The front section is flawless, not a speck of rust. In the rear sections, it's a whole other story. The car sat outside with the windows down, and the sunroof open, so it looks like water got in, and stayed under the floor insulation. It's not too bad, mostly just surface rust. I do have to do some work on the battery tray area, like always, that part has gotten thin. This picture shows the driver side rear tarboard still in the car, as well as the tunnel.

After all the tarboard was ripped out, I went over the pan with a stiff putty knife, scraping off all the tar that was sticking to the pan. After that, I took some scotch bright pads, and scrubbed all the remaining tar residue off with mineral spirits. Since the front was so clean, I went ahead and primered it, the rear on the other hand, got wire wheeled, and will be coated with POR-15, that will have to wait until I get the thin spots repaired though. Lucky for me, my wife let me go buy a new shop-vac to help clean out the car. I don't know why I took so long to get this thing, it's been a life saver!

The doors have been stipped of everything except the door latch mechinisms. All the windows of the car have been removed, as well as everything else I could see that could come off. The steering wheel, and column is out, as well as the hood hinges. The overall condition of this car isn't too bad, mostly just a bunch of door ding type repairs.
