The Pier Porject was defined by a simple yet challenging brief. Using a plot on an imaginary pier measuring 6m x 4m, I had to come up with a use for the space that would be slilghtly unusual yet unique, making innivative use of the space provided.

I came up with the idea of a house that had been constructed on the plot by someone who had bought the space with a view to lilve on the end of a pier with striking views out to sea and back towards the coast.

I spread out the rooms over 4 floors with a spiral staircase connecting them in the corner.
The floors are arranged with the daily activities of a person in mind, so Ground level is the entrance, first floor is the living area and kitchenette, thrid floor is the bathroom & WC and finally the fourth floor is the bedroom.

The reasoning for this is that a person witll get out of bed then wash, then eat, then go about their daily activities and at the end of the day they will relax, then wash then sleep. The space is used to minimise unnecessary trips and to keep the necessary trips to a minimum of length.
