A smile has been plastered on your face for a long time now. You have two wonderful and gorgeous flions. Lately, though, Whilin has been acting a little strange. She also seems to be hanging out with that Pero fellow a lot. Odd...

One day you wake and see Whilin acting even stranger than usual. She keeps arranging your softest, warmest blankets around her room in a mound. You figure it's a phase and go to make bacon.

Consal has noticed Whilin's strange behaviour, as well. You figure that because he is a flion, he'd know why she is acting this way. You decide to ask him, but he grins and doesn't say anything. You suspect he's laughing at you, or enjoying some inside joke, but you decide to shake it off.

A couple days later, Whilin seems even worse. She keeps forming a mound in the blankets, considering it, then destroying it. You shrug and head off to the store, hoping to stock up on more food.

You come back, Whilin seeming to have settled down. You go to see what had made her so anxious. Inside a depression in the mound are seven gray eggs. You gasp. "Are theese yours and Pero's?" You ask. Whilin nods.

You hesitate towards one. Whilin smiles encouragingly. You pick one of the fragile eggs in your arms. "I think we'll keep one, offer one to Pero, and get rid of the rest. Is that okay, Whi?" You ask. Whilin looks at the eggs and nods. "It's only fair," she says.

You grin and go to contact Pero's owner. You figure they should get a first pick before the other five are gone, since they are technically Pero's, as well.

After a week of Whilin's overprotective manner, the egg cracks.You and Whilin crowd to the egg, watching it closely, while Consal stands back a little, slightly frightened of your maternal manner. both of you are not worried, since you have both seen an egg hatch before.

As the egg's cracks grow larger and larger, the anticipation grows. Niether you or Whilin notice Consal's sad expression as a piece of the egg breaks off. You are greeted with a bit of gray nose afterwards.

Soon, the hatchling's entire head can be seen. It's ice blue eyes scan the surroundings as the young flion takes a quick break. It's eyes take in the beings around it mainly noticing the two other flions, and not you. You figure this is natural, and shrug it off as the baby returns to it's task.

When it is finally free, it goes straight towards Consal. "Dad?" The hatchling asks. Whilin rushes over. "No, sweetie, Pero is your daddy. I'll show him to you," she says, leading her baby to a photo you recently took. Consal sighs sadly and retires to his room. You do not notice over the baby.

Another week later, you and Whilin are still fussing over the baby. In fact, you've been so preoccupied with the baby, you haven't had a break all week. You decide you and Whilin need a little time off, and tell Consal to watch the baby while you two head out for a while.

When you and Whilin return, Consal is staring at the hatchling with wonder. Except it isn't a hatchling anymore. While you were gone it had grown, and Consal must have seen it.

Consal blinks a couple times. "That.. was... interesting..." he says slowly. You nod absently, thinking of a good name. "Hylin, that's pretty," you mutter, noticing the flion's gender.

Whilin smiles as Hylin's face brightens upon hearing her name. Consal gives an amused chuckle. Hylin's face brightens even more.

"Oh, Hylin, you are so pretty! We should tell Pero soon," Whilin gushes, leading her child into her room of the large house. You follow, not noticing a sad expression cover Consal's face. "at least she's happy," he mutters, and returns to his room.
