Hey True Spirit Websiters!
I trust the sun is shining at some point in your goings and comings every day! We here in England have been blessed with some glorious sunshine, which, with me being a Texan, I can totally appreciate, although the heat does get a bit much for the majority of the British. This was quite evident in the crowds at the Paul Weller show in Hyde Park on 28th July that I performed in with Jocelyn Brown. I could tell that the folks were melting under the heat, but they still showed great fervour for all the energy and passion that Paul Weller delivered on this gig! The band, which consisted of Ocean Colour Scene's band members, Steve Craddock on guitar and Damon Minchella on bass, along with Steve White on drums, were in spectacular form! At the end of the show, Kelly from the Stereophonics, joined us and we had the grand finale in top notch style!! I was ecstatic with excitement!! Paul rocked, rolled, grooved and funked the masses for 2 hours! The sun stayed with us all the way to the very last note that was played on stage!
I'm at the final stages of my independent record release of my new CD! The date scheduled for retail sales is 30 September 2002. I'll be selling a limited amount of autographed CD's at my Jazz Cafe gigs in London on 17th, 18th, 19th September, as well as from my official website, for a discounted price. Also on my website: www.carleenanderson.net, from the 9th September, sound clips from my new CD will be available to listen to as well.
There has been queries from the US about when I would gig over there. With plans to tour the UK in November/December 2002, and in continental Europe during the Spring of 2003, followed by the festival circuit in both of those territories in the Summer 2003, means that it will be at least the Autumn or Winter of 2003, before a US tour could be scheduled.
I'm really looking forward to my gig on 17th August, with the Dox Orchestra of Holland, at the Haarlem Jazz Festival! Although the band and I will only have a few hours rehearsal, as I've worked with them before when I was supporting the Leon Ware show, I know how capable and talented the musicians are, so I have every confidence that we'll enjoy playing music with each other again! The first 3 songs of my show will be shown live via web cam, and will be available for viewing on demand from my website, shortly afterwards.
As ever, I remain grateful for the loyal dedication from all the people that I work with and those that support my music. There's no way that I would continue performing music if I didn't have the belief system working for me as it has been. Sharing music should always be a joyful act to do, but this music industry is such a difficult challenge to participate in. However, with the reinforcements of the musical appreciations that I've received, I find the strength to tarry onwards, even in the face of adversity that surrounds me daily. Because of the genuine sincerity of those who value my music, I get sublime enthusiasm for performing, which wouldn't happen but for those that have the unwavering faith in what I deliver.
Sending much gratitude, joy, peace and love, Carleen
