Every scientist, inventor, writer, artist, and ruler has a predecessor and the serial killer is no different. The dramatic rise in serial killings for non profit after the industrial revolution and particulary in the 19th and 20th century is undoubtably true. However long before these outbursts there were individuals who would rival any of todays most notorious killers, and their stories are ones of carnage, bloodlust, and in some cases astonishment. The term "lustmord" a german word created probably solely in reference to Erszebet Bathory in our western tongue, Elizabeth Bathory. Bram Stoker told a story of Dracula, but the real story of the man born to the name of Dracula the son of Dracu, Vlad Tepes is far more interesting and much more horrific. Gilles de Rais a person of whom most fanatics find hard to read about was with Tiberius, Caligula, and Bathory the founder of mass serial killings due to strange sexual needs, and is infamous in this hall of fame deemed by many as one of the worst serial killers of all time. However time should hold no bearing and just due to the magnanamous number of victims attributed to the following, these modern day serial killers lay amongst the hall of legends. Henry Lee Lucas, and "The Monster of the Andes" Pedro Lopez. |
