The greyhound Santa's Little Helper was once known to be a greyhound racer. Although he lost everytime due to his slowness, he has warmed the Simpson's hearts for years. He is currently the Simpson dog, but was once owned by a racer, but was booted because 'he came in last for the last time'. He has returned to the dog track once to mate, and when he was racing, his racing number was Number 8. His favourite beverage is the toilet-bowl water and favourite foods includes snouts and entrails, and most things that Homer eats that falls on the floor. He fills time in by burying small appliances in the backyard and shredding newspaper. He has also been seen taking young Maggie for a ride around the house while the rest of the family sings 'Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer'. The date of Santa's Little Helper joining the Simpson family was December 25th, Christmas Day.

Not much is known about the first Simpson cat. All that is known about her is that she got run over a Chrysler. When she died, Marge said she was sleeping, Lisa knew she lied. One thing that is a major puzzlement is that in one episode, Snowball I was white (fanning ice for an improvised version of an air conditioner), and other shows she appears blackish in colour. Snowball I can only be seen in flashbacks that some Simpsons have. Lisa still loves this cat very much, and writes poems about her (and her hamster Snuffy), though when Snowball I was alive, they didn't change her kitty litter much.
Lisa's Poem I had a cat named Snowball, She died, she died, Mom said she was sleeping, She lied, she lied, Why, oh, why is my cat dead? Couldn't that Chrysler hit me instead? I had a hamster named Snuffy, He died, he died (and it just goes on)
The new black cat of the Simpsons looks strikingly familiar to the dead Snowball. She is more livelier and looks scrappier than Snowball I. Snowball II has the ability to play the piano with Santa's Little Helper, and balance on a miniature ball to try and get some attention. She can almost walk on two legs and say 'We love you' quite well, then fall down. However, none of the Simpsons family noticed as they were too busy with Stampy. She sometimes can be seen coughing up furballs, and enjoys being patted, although she got ignored when Santa's Little Helper returned after running away.
