The Three Influencial Artist Concept Tribute Series

TRIDOL 2005                   TRI-TRY AGAIN!!   2006

Dudley, a big fan of the idea of Concept Albums has only produced two such  collections in the past,  1988's  33 & 3rds and 2004's WHOA IS ME !     One of the primary reasons is because Dudley is always coming up  with so many ideas that it is tough to concentrate enough time to complete a multi-track undertaking.  33 & 3rds was a autobiographical study of Dudley's life, with  a song representing every three years or so in  the Serious Life. WHOA IS ME !  dealt with the scary time we are living in post the millennium, yet the public   seems unaffected and still self absorbed.

Dudley in 2005 had decided to do a series of releases which will concentrate on exploring some of his artistic  influences.  Each album will feature songs which  represent three artist which has touched DS and made him   this strange person .Each series of original thinkers will come from different areas of the arts.

TRIDOL released in 2005 studied  the work and lives of musician Brian Wilson, architect Frank Lloyd       Wright  & painter Salvador Dali.  Besides all being great creative artists in their fields, they were all original       thinkers in    all    aspects of their lives.     Unfortunately, two of them are dead and the third has nearly died      many times due  to his previous excessive lifestyle and demons.  Yet, Wright and Dali actually lived to a            very old age {& were still quite active til the end} and we hope that Brian will follow in their longevity.
The songs will look as various aspects of the artist's creative and personal lives. The
BRI Section will              feature a  unique track "Wouldn't it Be Only Knows" which is  a sever DS reworking of  Wilson's classic            "Wouldn't it Be  Nice" lyric married to the music of "God Only Knows" {it actually works, well in a Serious             kind   of way}  also  an interview montage put to music "Bri", a version of SMiLE's "In Blue Hawaii" and  a          cover of   an obscure Wilson song "I'm Begging You Please" .
   The
FLW Section will include several songs about buildings designed by the Wright which are among the      close  to 100 I've visited, like the song  "My Church" about the    Dann Home in Springfield Illinois.  Another       song called   "Tragedy in Wisconsin" is about when   Frank's new second wife {whom he originally stole          away from a client}        dies in a fire  set by a deranged farm hand.  As each survivors tried to excape the          burning  building -he hatched each person to death, including children . The Dali Section will attempt to           feature songs dissecting some of his      famous & not   so famous paintings, be it true of not, it's just the          way Dudley .  One song "Crutch" will deal with    Sal's childhood. Instrumental "Milking the Cranial Harp",        & Epic "Lugubrious Game" depict some of the paintings.   And again like w/ the others there will be a                 interview montage featuring featuring some of Dali's giberish.

TRI-TRY AGAIN !! The 2006 Volume 2  collection in the Tribute series features another group         of   diverse artists; film maker Alfred Hitchcock , musican Todd Rundgren & actress Veronica Lake.   The          songs in  The HITCHCOCK Section look at both his Film Career " AH Montage" as well as his TV Show         "Alfred Presents". Other selections include; "Hitchemo" which is about the directors cameo appearences        in all his movies, while "Birds" is a new reworking of a 1980 instrumental inspired by the movie of the same    name.  The TODD Section features Dud's rendition of a few Rundgren songs; "The Wheel/Fire" {featuring      a new DS arrangement of career  spanning lyrics} &  "Be Nice To Me" .  The "TR Montage" features rare             interview material. There has always been     a saying that  you can never really leave home is covered in        "Upper Darby Boy" [Todd's home town a suburb  of   Phila. which he shares w/ Dud}.    The VERONICA             LAKE Section studies the tragic story of a 40's actress    who had so much potential in the hands of a             great director like Preston Sturgus but her career & life were to take   a down slide through the 50's & 60's       to her early death at age 52 in early 70's.  She was known as the "Peek - A- Boo" girl for her distictive hair          style.  "Lake of Beauty (lake of sorrow)" is about here life and "Beautiful Song" is  a double tribute tune             [originally written by Rundgren- now w/ new lyrics by DS to make the song about Lake.

TRICYCLE   The 2007 Volume 3 Album featured tunes
about three more artists;   40's Film Director, Preston Sturges,
Musician Phil Ochs and Science Fiction Writer Robert Heinlien.
Unfortunately all three men are dead, hopefully in 2008 Dudley will find a few more living artistic influences {so far only Brian & Todd}.
STURGES SECTION includes three new songs about the srewball movies writer/directors work & life plus a cover of a song he wrote, "My Love".   "Sullivan's Eve..." covers the best known movies from the 40s.  "Cold Are The Hands" contains lyric & thougths of his from unreleased plays.   "Diddlebock's Mad Wednesday" is a dialog montage from the last Harold Lloyd album that Sturges Directed put to music by Django Reinhardt's 1933 "Mabel".   OCH SECTION -
featured 2 covers of Phil Ochs classics, "Crucifixion" & "Pretty Smart On My Part"  plus unreleases lyrics to "Chaplain of War" put to new guitar music written by Serious.   The forth tune is a reading of various lyrical poetry from a number of Ochs songs w/ sampled piano loops originally performed by Lincoln Mayora on Ochs LPs.
HEINLEIN SECTION - has the epic 11 minute "GROK" which is from STRANGER IN STRANGE LAND audiobook reading w/ Dud music.
Instrumental "To Sail Beyond Eternal Now" is inspired by RH's last book, "D Meets H..." is an imaginary dream meeting of Heinlein and Dali" .  Finally "Green Hill Jet" is a collection of lyrics from numerious RH books finding a home w/ new Dud music.
