Bossk is a
Trandoshan, a three-toed, three-fingered reptilian. He is
also the son of Cradossk, leader of the Bounty Hunters
Guild.
Like the rest of his
species, Bossk has the ability to regenerate lost limbs and
can see in the dark by using the portion of is eyes that
respond to infrared light. His home planet is in the same
solar system as Kashyyyk, the Wookiee homeworld. The
Wookiees owed much of their pain and suffering to the
Trandoshans, who used to hunt Wookies and skin their
pelts.
But when a
Trandoshan dignitary convinced the Empire to use Wookiees as
their slave labor that was when the Wookies' pain
intesified.
After the Empire
enslaved much of Kashyyyk, the Trandoshans offered to hunt
down any Wookiees that had escaped. When Bossk's liege lord
suggested that he become a Bounty Hunter who specialized in
Wookiee captures and kills, he was more than happy to do
so.
Bossk outfitted
himself with protective body armor and a variety of
weapons.
Bossk made quite a
name for himself hunting Wookies and began accepting
Bounties on non-Wookies as well, becoming one of the most
powerful Bounty Hunters in the Universe. He also made a
personal vow at this time: 'never to cross the Emperor...that
way, lies a serious amount of grief.'
A giant named
Chewbacca--allied with a Corellian smuggler named Han
Solo--had gained a high amount of respect in the galaxy's
underworld, ans Bossk decided to bring him down. Meanwhile,
he continued the hunts, and in addition to the many Wookiees
he had trapped and killed, he made twelve captures,
delivering eight to their enemies alive.
Finally, Bossk got
his shot at Chewbacca. He had heard news that a group of
renegade Wookiees had set up a safe colony on Gandolo IV, a
remote Outer Rim world. The Trandoshan went to the Imperial
governor of the sector, to be paid in advance, and then he
armed himself for the trip to Gandolo IV. There, he found
his prey. Chewbacca was helping the small group of Wookiees
settle on the rocky moon. Bossk and his thugs surrounded the
Wookiee camp, outnumbering and easily capturing the poorly
armed creatures. Bossk had little time to gloat over his
victory, though, as Chewbacca was not alone. Han Solo had
dropped his copilot on Gandolo IV, then he visited an old
girlfriend in a nearby system. Now he returned, the
Milennium Falcon's scanners picking up the Bounty Hunter
ships even before he got in visual range. Solo dove the
Falcon toward the planet, catching Bossk and his thugs by
surprise, as they had the Wookiees. Solo flew in low over
the Wookiee colony, buzzing the Hunters, and strafing the
ground with laser fire. He couldn't hit the Bounty Hunters
full on, as they had the bound Wookiees in their midst.
Intending to pursue the Falcon, Bossk and his thugs boarded
their own ship, leaving two guards behind. But Han Solo had
other plans. As soon as the entry ramp was raised on Bossk's
ship, Han pulled the Falcon directly above it, lowered the
landing gear, and touched down directly on top of the other
ship! The Hunter's craft buckled under the strain, its own
landing gear caving in, its hydraulics shot, and its
interiors sparking and exploding. Bossk's people tried in
vain to get the emergency hatches open. Meanwhile, Chewbacca
and the Wookiees broke free of their binders and overcame
the two guards. Chewbacca and Solo agreed to help the
Wookiees find a new, safe colony, refusing to kill the
humiliated Bossk before they left.
The Trandoshan
Hunter was stranded and left to his own helpless rage. It is
rumoured that none of his partners survived his anger. Bossk
finally freed himself from the crushed shell that had been
his ship; it had taken him days to cut his way out with
blasters and a few hand torches. A week later, Bossk was
picked up by a small out-world hauler carrying a load of
nerf manure.
After his first ship
was destroyed, Bossk purchased The Hound's Tooth.
As the rightful heir
of The Bounty Hunters Guild, Bossk had been plotting his
father's demise for some time. The Guild was everything to
the brutal Hunter, and he refused to watch his father's
senile claws destroy what was rightfully his. After enacting
a brutally efficient plot to overthrow Cradossk and set
himself up as leader, Bossk went on a Bounty with Boba Fett,
IG-88, Zuckuss, and D'harhan where he narrowly avoided an
assassination attempt by Zuckuss, who was working with
Cradossk, by bribing the other Hunter to his side. Bossk
returned, to the surprise of his father, and violently
slaughtered his father as The Guild complex erupted into a
massive firefight.
After this, however,
The Guild had been split in half. Bossk was the leader of
The Guild Reform Committee, which consisted mostly of
younger Hunters, and was fixed on destroying The True Guild,
whom Bossk saw as old, lazy Hunters.
Against his better
judgement, Bossk again worked with Boba Fett to track down
the rogue stormtrooper Trihin Voss'on't. After nearly dying,
Bossk managed to help Fett capture the defect Imperial only
to double-cross the other Hunter. Bossk reasoned that
Voss'on't's Bounty could help give The Committee the upper
hand in the Bounty Hunter Wars, and would do it much better
if he collected all of it. After disabling The Slave I's
internal defense systems, Bossk captured Fett on his own
ship. Luckily for Fett, Fett had foreseen this complication
and had already hired Zuckuss to back him up after gaining
the Bounty. Bossk was subdued, and then Zuckuss was also
double-crossed. The two Hunters were blasted out of The
Slave I by Boba Fett in the only escape pod. Angrily, Bossk
threw a bomb into Fett's ship just before he was launched,
which gave the pod enough time to escape.
Years later, Bossk
would get another chance at the Wookiee and Han. Shortly
before the Battle of Hoth, Boba Fett gathered several fellow
Bounty Hunters, including Bossk, Dengar, and a newer Hunter
named Skorr, to find Han Solo. They captured him, along with
Luke Skywalker and Chewbacca, aboard the pirate Raskar's
ship. Bringing the trio to the planed Ord Mantell, the
Hunters were taken by surprise when Luke used his Force
powers to engineer the trio's escape.
When Darth Vader put
out an open call for Bounty Hunters to find the Milennium
Falcon, Bossk immediately went to the Super Star Destroyer
Executor. There, he found that he had competition from five
other Bounty Hunters: Boba Fett, IG-88, Dengar, Zuckuss, and
4-LOM.
He grudgingly teamed
up with Tinian I'att and Chenlambec, believing they had
inside information about Solo's whereabouts. In fact, it
turned out to be a setup to rescue an entire prison full of
Wookies. Bossk barely survived, and his ship was taken by
I'att and Chen to ferry the Wookies back. At some point, he
did manage to steal his ship back.
Much later, Bossk
found out that Boba Fett had indeed succeeded in tracking
the Falcon and in procuring the carbon-frozen body of Han
Solo to deliver to Jabba the Hutt.
Chewbacca had
escaped, though, aided by the Baron Administrator of
Bespin's Cloud City, Lando Calrissian.
Quite some time
later, after Boba Fett's "death", Bossk had another run-in
with Fett. He was forced to abandon The Hound's Tooth in a
panic as a bomb calmly counted down the seconds remaining to
detonation. Again, Bossk found himself in an escape pod
because of Boba Fett and seethed silently to himself.
Suddenly, a countdown began echoing in the escape pod. In a
frenzy, Bossk tried to find the bomb, and managed to
discover it just as the countdown reached zero... and
nothing happened. It was then that the Hunter realized that
he had been scared off of his own ship, and he now knew that
Fett hadn't in fact been killed by the Sarlacc and was now
using The Hound's Tooth as his own ship.
Bossk landed on the
surface of Tatooine via. the escape pod, where he was
stranded without any source of money. Luckily for him, he
had managed to steal an important piece of evidence from the
Slave I which led up to another show down with Fett in the
Mos Eisley Cantina. Bossk held his ground against the
fearsome Hunter, refusing to give the location of the
evidence without money, even with Fett's blaster trained on
his forehead. Boba Fett uttered the unthinkable words "You
won" and transferred a large amount of credits into Bossk's
account in exchange for the evidence. It is believed that
Bossk used this money, not to mention this new respect he
earned for defeating Boba Fett, to get back on his feet in
the Bounty Hunting world.
Some time later,
Bossk and IG-88 moved on to the Hunter's world of Keyorin,
where they accepted Bounties from the small-time crime boss
Drebble, for Lando Calrissian's head. Coincidentally, Lando
had accompanied Han and Chewbacca to Keyorin. A
Confrontation soon followed, but the Alliance heroes were
victorious yet again.
Now fifty-eight
standard years old, Bossk is willing to sacrifice
Chewbacca's pelt for a quick kill if he ever sees the
Wookiee again.
Bossk is
available for hire as a Bounty Hunter.

TOOTH are available.
