DWL's Latest News/Rumors

(June 17, 2007)

- YO QUIERO BURRITO: Scandal has hit the DWL. A recent investigation into the transactions of the DWL's past has revealed that Ryan Fitzmeyer failed to complete the trade agreements when he traded Scott Henderson to Salar for Tim Rumpff. Ryan agreed to send Scott and a Chipotle burrito to Salar in exchange for Tim before the Winter 2005 season. It has been discovered that Salar has yet to receive the burrito. League officials are deciding whether or not to now go back and reject the trade and strip Ryan and Tim of their Joe's Cup. We'll give the updates as we receive them.

- NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK: The DWL has added its fourth ever expansion team, first since 2003. Team Brother, made of Tim's brother Matt McLeod and Scott's brother Mark, went 0-3 in its first three games. They'll need to sweep the next 3 to have a shot at the playoffs.

- STAR SEARCH: With the deadline for regular season games being July 4th, that day has also been marked as the day for the first ever All-Star game/events. Yes we will actually do one this year. Invites for the slam dunk contest include... Abi, Tom, Ryan Motyka and Salar. Raj, Emil, and Salar are also the favorites to win the three point contest.

- SAM I AM: Sam Mason is once again in the DWL. On Stephen A. Smith's radio show in New York, Ryan Walker announced that he had released the first overall pick Nate Brubaker and had picked up free agent Sam. He's delivered so far, 4th for 2men in pts with 5.4 ppg.

- ADAM THE GREAT: Adam Walker may be the best DWL player ever. Maybe that's getting ahead of myself, but Adam has now won 14 straight regular season games. Adam hasn't lost since 2003 and is now 17-3 in his career.

TRADED!!!!!!!!!

The first DWL midseason trade has been completed. Yesterday, the front office approved the swap of Paul Ruckerman for Raj Kakar.

2man of the Year Watch

1. Greg Hand (4-1)

Stats: 6.6 ppg 3.4 rpg

Has been one of the toughest matchpus for 2men. His stats may not blow you away, but he's the second half of one of the most balanced teams.

2. Adam Walker (4-0)

Stats: 4.5 ppg 5.5 rpg

The reigning co-2man of the year had a slow start but was lights out against Salar/Scott. May need to continue to have big games to get the attention.

3. Ryan Fitzmeyer (2-0)

Stats: 7.5 ppg 11.5 rpg

The stats are extremely impressive and his team is undefeated. But they need to play more games to be seen as legit around the league.

4. Andrew Fitzmeyer (5-3)

Stats: 4.3 ppg 4.9 rpg

Has had one of the more impressive seasons for a rookie. Especially considering his age and minimal opportunities in the offense.

5. Tom Brodrick (2-0)

Stats: 6.0 ppg 4.5 rpg

Everyone thought this team would be bad but they've got some great wins. Not to mention what looks like a playoff birth.

6. Sam Mason (2-3)

Stats: 5.4 ppg 3.8 rpg

Has been a huge upgrade over the first pick Nate Brubaker. Nobody thought Ryan W's team would be on the edge of the playoffs.

The Mountain

CLIMBING: Alex/Greg (4-1), they've locked up their division title and are one loss by another team away from being the top seed in the playoffs.

PEAK: Kevin/Adam (4-0), they've turned some heads and have a strangle hold on the top seed. Not only do they have the best win percentage but they also have the top point differential at +16.

FALLING: Vadim/Emil (0-2), One of the preseason favorites because of chemistry is off to a horrible start. They've gotta finish at least .500 to slip into the playoffs, even that may not be enough.

Remember When...

Former DWL member Francis Bloom during a recent conversation after offering him a spot as a free agent pickup in the DWL...

"You expect me to drop everything on a dime and just show up for the DWL? You should've had me in it from the beginning."

DWL Security has been in full staff at recent games. Francis is listed as highly dangerous after not being asked to be in the DWL since leaving in 2003 and declining an invite in 2004. The alert came about after an almost violent confrontation with Kevin Eaton in a Germantown bar.
