To be nominated or to nominate yourself for an office, you must be a member in good standing, interested in, and willing to take on the projects and responsibilities that come with the desired position.
You may review the Constitution available on this site for further information. PLEASE NOTE THAT THE NOMINATION AND ELECTION PROCEDURES LISTED BELOW HAVE BEEN ADJUSTED FOR THIS YEAR ONLY.
As listed on this website beginning in June of 2004, nominations were due at our meeting on Thursday, August 19 by 5:00 PM. Each nominee prepared a short description of their plans and goals for the upcoming year, which are posted below.
Elections will be held at the first meeting of the new term on Thursday, September 23, 2004. If a member is not available for voting due to CoOp or because they are on vacation, they may vote electronically, but ballots must be received by the beginning of the meeting. More details will follow.
The duties of the President include:
- serving as the student liaison to the University President
- representing the Polish Society student body as official spokesperson
- acting as the liaison to the University�s Board of Trustees, and may attend all open meetings
- chairing the meeting to develop the DUPS budget.
Michalina's statement:
Seeing what the club accomplished during its first year has inspired so many in the community that it would be a sin for us to stop now! I would like the coming year to bring in more members, more events, and get more attention on campus, and I will do my very best to make it all happen. I will strive to make this year better and more successful than the last, incorporating the help of other Polish Socities in our area when possible.
The duties of the Vice President include:
- chairing DUPS meetings in the absence of the President
- being responsible for keeping track of committee activities and to provide direction to committees in cooperation with the committee chair
- working with the president, supporting him/her and attending meetings with administrators in his/her absence.
- being an ex-officio member of all DUPS related committees.
Monika's statement:
As the following year approaches and after a summer long investment in
Poland, I have strengthened my appreciation for Poland and the Polish
Community. With this in mind as vice president, I would like to make
this year a more productive year for the Polonia students across
Philadelphia with more activities and more involvement in getting to
know each other.
The duties of the Secretary include:
- being responsible for managing all of the DUPS records from the meetings
- managing records of all activities the organization will conduct throughout the year
Agnieszka's statement:
Throughout the past year I have been proud to be a member of
D.U.P.S. In that year, I have been able to benefit from all of the hard
work of our officers. It's time to return the favor and contribute to
the club. As Secretary, I promise to assist the rest of our officers in making this year our best yet.
The duties of the Treasurer include:
- keeping track of the expenditures of the DUPS
- being the Chair of the Student Activities Fee Allocation Committee.
Edyta's statement:
I would like to see our club rise to its full potential and use all resources available to us from the University to benefit the members... because thats what we're here for! :-)
The duties of the Alumni Relations Officer include:
- being a contact person between the organization and recently graduated Drexel students.
