| Montez Downey, a 6-6 guard who graduated from Bishop McGuinness in 2005, has committed to play at UNC Wilmington, his former high-school coach said. Stan Kowalewski, who coached Downey at McGuinness and now coaches at High Point Central, said that Downey recently visited UNCW and gave a commitment Tuesday night. Downey didn't attend school in the fall semester but spent the spring semester at Miami Dade Junior College, where he practiced with but didn't play for the basketball team. Downey, the brother of Taron Downey, a former guard at Wake Forest, averaged 23 points, four rebounds and 3.2 assists in his senior season at McGuinness. Read More. |
