| Three years have passed since the eight original Digi-Destined children saved the Digiworld from Apocalymon and the four Dark Masters. Tai, Matt, Sora, and Izzy are in junior high school, Joe's in a private school, Mimi and her parents moved to America, and T.K. and Kari have grown up quite a bit. Unfortunately, there's new trouble brewing in the Digiworld. A human boy, calling himself the Digimon Emperor, has been terrorizing the Digiworld by turning innocent Digimon into his evil slaves with his Dark Rings. The original Digi-Destined try to help, but the Digimon Emperor's dark digivice, along with his control spires that provide the power for his Dark Rings, somehow prevents the Digimon from digivolving normally. They have to find a new way of digivolving in order to defeat the Digimon Emperor. Three new kids--Davis, Yolei, and Cody--who are also friends of T.K. and Kari from school, are given new digivices, nicknamed D-3's, and Digimon with the power to armor-digivolve through Digi-eggs that bear the crests of the eight original Digi-Destined. This new form of digivolving is unaffected by the Digimon Emperor's dark digivice and his control spires. T.K. and Kari are also given the power for their Digimon to armor-digivolve as well. These three new Digi-Destined, along with T.K. and Kari, must travel to the Digiworld to help defeat the Digimon Emperor once and for all. This causes them to lead secret double-lives as they go to the Digiworld every day after school via the Digi-Port. The Digi-Destined eventually find out that the Digimon Emperor is a boy genius named Ken Ichijouji. Like them, he is also a Digi-Destined, but somewhere along the line, Ken turned evil. Ken, like the other Digi-Destined, also has his own Digimon, Wormmon, who he doesn't treat very well. After the new Digi-Destined defeat Ken, he surprisingly does a complete turnaround and helps the Digi-Destined out... As the Digi-Destined are cleaning up the mess that Ken made as the Digimon Emperor, they discover that some anonymous woman has been turning control spires into evil Digimon. They later find out that the woman is a Digimon named Arukenimon. With her assumed partner, Mummymon, Arukenimon is determined to take over both the Digiworld and the real world, or destroy them both if she can't take them over. As the Digi-Destined battle Arukenimon and her control-spire Digimon, they discover a new form of digivolving called DNA-digivolving. The way it works is that two Champion Digimon merge together to form one powerful Digimon with the strength of an Ultimate Digimon. Each Digi-Destined has their own DNA-digivolving partner: Davis is with Ken, Kari is with Yolei, and T.K. is with Cody. Together, with their Digimon partners, these "new-generation" Digi-Destined will defeat Arukenimon, Mummymon, and any other dark forces that threaten both worlds! | MOTOMIYA "Davis" DAISUKE |
| Davis is the new leader of the new Digi-Destined. He's very active and plays soccer, which is how he meets Tai. Tai even gives Davis his old goggles when Davis' goggles break in the Digiworld. Davis has a short temper and loses his cool often. He also has a major crush on Kari, which makes him jealous of her friend, T.K. Davis is so jealous of T.K. that he unconsciously, or intentionally, mispronounces T.K.'s name several times. Davis lives with his parents and his older sister, June. |

| Yolei is an intelligent young girl. She's into computers and her favorite subject: cute guys. She can be too honest and, at times, very blunt. Yolei is very open-minded and and usually says what's on her mind, even if it might hurt someone's feelings. Yolei lives in the same apartment complex as T.K. Her family owns a convenience store, where she usually gets snacks for the always-hungry Digimon. |

| Cody is very quiet and wise for his age, kind of like how Kari was in the first season. He's two years younger than the other new Digi-Destined kids. Like Yolei, Cody lives in the same apartment complex as T.K. His father was a police officer who died in the line of duty, and he lives with his mother and grandfather. Cody's grandfather has been teaching him kendo, or Japanese fencing, ever since he was a little boy, which would explain why he's so quiet and disciplined. |

| Tai still plays soccer a lot. He was the first to go back to the Digiworld and find out about the new trouble threatening it. Out of the entire group, Tai is the one who changed the most, for the better. He now thinks first before acting, making him a better and stronger person. Tai's Digimon partner is Agumon. |

| YAMATO "Matt" ISHIDA |
| Over the past three years, Matt has traded in his harmonica for an electric guitar. He is now the lead singer and guitarist for his own rock band. Matt is pretty popular and has a lot of fans, especially girls. Matt's Digimon partner is Gabumon. |

| SORA TAKENOUCHI |
| Besides soccer, Sora has also picked up the sport of tennis. Since the incident with the Digimon three years ago, Sora has become much closer to her mother and has even picked up the art of flower arranging from her. Sora's Digimon partner is Biyomon. |

| KOUSHIRO "Izzy" IZUMI |
| Compared to the other kids, Izzy is still kind of short. He hasn't lost his interest in computers or the Digiworld. With his knowledge in computers and the Digiworld, Izzy is very well-informed and more than willing to assist the new Digi-Destined. Izzy's Digimon partner is Tentomon. |

| Joe is in a private school, separated from the other kids. He's constantly studying to get into high school, which is done by passing a certain test in Japan. Joe's Digimon partner is Gomamon. |

| MIMI TACHIKAWA |
| Mimi has moved to New York City with her parents. She keeps in contact with her friends and visits whenever she can. Mimi didn't lose her flare for fashion or her love for the color pink. She even dyed her hair pink! Mimi's Digimon partner is Palmon. |

| There's also the enemy-turned-ally, Ken a.k.a. the Digimon Emperor. |
| KEN ICHIJOUJI |
| Known in the beginning as the Digimon Emperor, Ken is seen as an evil tyrant in the Digiworld. In the real world, Ken is a well-reknown genius who excels in several things, such as chess, computers, mathematics, and soccer. Due to pressure from the public and his parents to be a genius, like his older brother Sam, who unfortunately passed away, Ken takes out his aggression and anger on the Digiworld and the Digimon that inhabit it. |

| After being defeated by the new Digi-Destined, and losing his Digimon, Wormmon, Ken becomes distraught and returns to the real world in shambles. He goes back to the Digiworld in an attempt to find his Digimon and does find him in Primary Village. He helps the Digi-Destined destroy his old base with the power of his crest of Kindness, and also helps them knock down the control spires he put up and fight Arukenimon. |

| ARUKENIMON |
| Arukenimon has two forms: one of a young white-haired woman, and one of a spider-like Digimon. In her human-like form, Arukenimon is able to transform the old control spires that Ken built when he was the Digimon Emperor into control-spire Digimon with her Spirit Needle attack. She may appear young and pretty in her human form, but that description doesn't fit her Digimon form at all. Her Spider Thread attack puts her enemies in a sticky situation, and her Acid Mist attack leaves her enemies feeling quesy. |

| MUMMYMON |
| Mummymon, like Arukenimon, has both a human and Digimon form as well. He doesn't have any special attack in his human form, but when Mummymon is in his Digimon form, he'll tie up his enemies with his Snake Bandage attack. Mummymon is Arukenimon's loyal servant, and is also obviously in love with her. Arukenimon is not impresseed or interested in Mummymon's affections toward her. |
