Children Of The Night
Dark descends
Lie in my bed,
Window open,
Moon blood red.
Heartbeat steady,
As I rise,
Moon's reflected,
In my eyes.
Hear the howl,
Far from sight.
Soulful music,
Child of the night.
Pulled to window,
Gaze to the sky,
Heart pulled by
The distant cry.
Fall to floor,
Body shaking,
Changing form,
Now over taking.
Silently pads,
Across the floor,
Crosses through,
The open door.
All is darkness,
Yet these eyes see,
The path ahead,
That's calling me.
Into forest,
Swift of flight,
A silver blur,
Then out of sight.
Silent paws,
On soft damp ground,
Through undergrowth,
Without a sound.
Spurred on by
The Leaders call,
Join me by
The old stone wall.
Joined together
Move as one
Hunt until
The night is done
Through the forest
Darkest night
Capture prey
Jaws hold it tight.
Feast until
The hunger's gone
Come together
Sleep as one
Dawn's first light
Head for home
Panic rising
Change begun
Open eyes,
Human sight,
As night is taken,
By dawn's light.
Remembers not,
Nocturnal hours,
Yawns and rises,
Breakfasts, showers.
So next when seen,
The moon, blood red.
Feel yourself rising
From your bed.
And hear the Wolf,
His distant cry.
And gaze up
To the starry sky.
And feel the pull
The leaders call,
You're under the moon's
Blood red thrall.
