Letter From The Editor   Other Links
Dear All,
Good Wishes!

We had a great week at DreamIndia with our activities and plans working out. The DreamIndia website work is almost over and we are likely to publish the site by the end of this week.

Classes are as usual happening fine at Borivili in Mumbai. Rahul is co-odrinating the classes here. We need a few more volunteers here and anyone interested can contact [email protected]. The wiring work for the school building is going on. Please find the updates on the meeting with Shri. Vitthal Lad and the Pooja for the study room. We will soon start with the classes, once all the work is over.

The Belapur team visited a slum and started interacting with the children and gained the confidence of the parents. We would soon start weekend classes for these children. The parents were very happy to know that their kids would start learning and were very cooperative. Please find a few pictures of the kids in the slum who would be benefited by the weekend classes.

The Pune team visited Manavya again and spent quality time with the children there. More than money, manpower is required. It would be nice if we shall try and spread the information about Manavya to our friends. The more the involvement, the quicker is the progress. At Bangalore, the Kidwai project (combined with IndiaVision2020, IndiaSudar and RECT_BATCH_OF_98) has kicked off. We hope that the plans execute fine.

Classes at Chennai are progressing well. We are collecting funds for the building construction of an orphanage called Netaji Mercy Home. We also have plans to conduct a medical camp and put posters in important places, like Tidal Park. The Hyderabad team is increasing in size. We have identified an orphanage in Kukatpalli. We will soon be working on it.

Overall the week had great developments. Last year we had DD news feature about DreamIndia2020 Team in a program called YUVA, Please click here to watch the DI2020-Pada video.

Together we can!!! Together We Should!!!

Jai Hind!!!

Excerpts from "Gandhi in India, In His Own Words" Edited by Martin Green
45. Bhagat Singh (vol. XLV, pp. 359-61) [From Gujarati] Navajivan, 29-3-1931

Brave Bhagat Singh and his two associates have been hanged. Many attempts were made to save their lives and even some hopes were entertained, but all was in vain.

Bhagat Singh did not wish to live. He refused to apologize; declined to file an appeal. If at all he would agree to live, he would do so for the sake of others; if at all he would agree to it, it would be in order that his death might not provoke anyone to indiscriminate murder. Bhagat Singh was not a devotee of non-violence, but he did not subscribe to the religion of violence; he was prepared to commit murder out of sense of helplessness. His last letter was as follows: "I have been arrested while waging a war. For me there can be no gallows. Put me in mouth of cannon and blow me off." These heroes had conquered the fear of death. Let us bow to them a thousand times for their heroism.

But we should not imitate their act. I am not prepared to believe that the country benefited by their action. I can see only the harm that has been done. We could have won swaraj long ago if that line of action had not been pursued and we could have waged a purely non-violent struggle. There may well be two opinions on this conjecture of mine. However, no one can deny the fact that if the practice of seeking justice through murders is established amongst us, we shall start murdering one another for what we believe to be justice. In a land of crores of destitute and crippled persons, this will be a terrifying situation. These poor people are bound to become victims of our atrocities. It is desirable that everyone should consider the consequences of this. Further, we want a swaraj which is theirs and for them. By making a dharma of violence, we shall be reaping the fruit of our own actions.

To be continued...
