Dear All,
Good Wishes!

The toll of the last weeks horrifying Indonesian earthquake has increased to more than 6200, as per the Indonesian authorities. Aid from all parts of the world has reached in quick time and the UN has planned for a six month relief work. Hope and pray that the people who survived get back to normalcy soon. Please find pictures of a few Quake survivors here

At DreamIndia, we have built our first study/activity room at the Pada in Mumbai. You can read about all of what has happened there and also some good pictures, in this link: Study Room at Pada. We wish to congratulate our Mumbai team members and the people from the pada for accomplishing this task. We also take this opportunity to thank all those members of DreamIndia2020 across the globe for the excellent support they shower each every time in all possible forms. Today whatever little we do is only because of the great faith each one of them have reposed on us. Our team members at Belapur, Mumbai visited an old age home and a kids home this week. We will post a detailed report on this in the coming week. Introducing more volunteers to carry on these activities would be highly appreciated. Mumbai - Borivili classes are also progressing well.

As reported last week, Pune team members visited Manavya, a home for HIV positive kids. Please find a detailed Write up by Mr.Rohit Bhosale on Manavya. We hope to make frequent and regular visits to this home in the future too. At Bangalore, along with India Vision2020 and India Sudar, we have chalked out plans for the Shishu Mandir kids. By next week we should have a detailed report on this. Classes at Chennai are progressing well; Ms.Divya is working on identifying vocational courses for the students. We have also posted the second set of letters from the kids in the Chennai team to those in Mumbai-Pada. It is heartening to see the enthusiasm of the kids in writing letters to each other. We are planning to extend this idea of writing letters to kids in the Pune team too.

Team members of Hyderabad have decided to visit an old age home and a slum education group this week-end. We would be able to share more information on this in the future.

Overall, the week that went had very good developments for the teams across India. At Mumbai our members acted at right time and decided to take care of the education of a child, which was about to be stalled due to financial reasons.

We have a lot of plans for future and hope by Gods blessing we would be able to march ahead towards the Great Indian Dream!!!

Together we can!!! Together We Should!!!

Jai Hind!!!

India overtakes S Africa in HIV infections: UN

Excerpts from "The Story of my experiments with Truth" by Mahatma Gandhiji Continued from here

Meetings used to be held once in a month or even once a week if required. Minutes of the proceedings of the preceding meeting would be read, and all sorts of questions would be discussed. People had no experience of taking part in public discussions or of speaking briefly and to the point. Everyone hesitated to stand up to speak. I explained them the rules of procedure at meetings, and they respected them. They realized that it was an education for them, and many who had never been accustomed to speaking before an audience soon acquired the habit of thinking and speaking publicly about matters of public interest.

Knowing that in public work minor expenses at times absorbed large amounts, I had decided not to have even the receipt books printed in the beginning. I had a cyclostyle machine in my office, on which I took copies of receipts and reports. Such things I began to get printed only when the congress coffers were full, and when the number of members and work had increased. Such economy is essential for every organization, and yet I know that it is not always exercised. That is why I thought it is proper to enter into these little details of the beginnings of a small but growing organization.

People never cared to have receipts for the amounts they paid, but we always insisted on the receipts being given. Every pie was thus clearly accounted for, and I dare to say the account books for the year 1894 can be found intact even today in the records of Natal Indian Congress. Carefully kept accounts are a sine qua non for any organization. Without them it falls into disrepute. Without properly kept accounts it is impossible to maintain truth in its pristine purity.

The End!
